I'm happy to report that even though I cant quite hike as much as usual I have another kind of upper body exercise to keep me busy for a while. I'm painting my mom's house. I started yesterday and really am enjoying it. It's always fun to work hard and get results. So for the next week I'll have at least that for exercise and I'll try to get my and Ame's 30 minutes in somewhere. Even if it an easy walk or gardening.

Today I'm making homemade (sugar free) apple butter so I have something yummy to put on my winter oatmeal besides maple syrup. I do love fall. The fresh produce is so beautiful.

My birthday party was a glorious eat anything day and now that my cake is gone I'm ready to go off sugar again. Back to just my yummy fruits. I really want to do a few days cleanse with maybe some raw foods and an herbal cleanse. I haven't gotten it yet and I may wait until I'm done painting. Bathroom breaks being an issue.

So anyway, I wont weigh for another week, but hopefully will have clensed by then. Busy busy. And actually, feeling really good.

Yesterday's lunch was kale raspberry banana smoothie w almond milk & yogurt and a little flax. I felt great all afternoon. Had a sm svg of almonds to go with it. Have fun painting and be careful on the ladder!! 🙌

If you are painting every day, you will surely have a good surprise on the scale. What a wonderful birthday gift for mom! :) That apple butter sounds great. OH! I have to tell you (which you may already know)... I was listening to A Year without Sugar and she mentioned two sweeteners that do not have fructose - barley malt syrup and brown rice syrup. I bought them both yesterday and plan to experiment with some desserts this weekend. Next weekend we are visiting Eric's parents so it will be a splurgy weekend but I will try not to go too crazy. A lot of times she makes desserts that aren't really my thing like pinwheel cookies (Eric's favorite) so I am not too tempted. It's her FOOD (meals) that get me! She is an amazing cook and it is always fun to see what she is going to create. AT the moment, she knows nothing of what we have been doing but she will probably notice that Eric has lost weight and we will tell them when we get up there.

How much has he lost? You guys are so much more serious about your added sugar than I have been. Good job. I'm also going to check no sugar condiments. Kim, you can chime in about the horseradish. Doesn't the fermentation process burn the sugar off?

He has only weighed himself once since we started (that I know of) and when he did , it indicated that he did not lose anything since he last weighed himself a few months ago. But twice so far he has had to cut new holes in his belt and this seeming lack of weight loss has not deterred him one bit. We were talking yesterday of going shopping soon for new jeans since his two pair are getting pretty loose. He has a friend who had some sort of surgery in her digestive tract for ulcers and she lost 90 pounds in a matter of 9 months or so. She doesn't eat sugar either and so we had dinner with her last night. It was fun. He is as gung ho as he was day one, perhaps even more so since he has discovered the health benefits of this new lifestyle and I believe that he is converted. Time will tell. We both still want sweets sometimes, but more and more are finding them to be unsatisfactory when we do indulge. Yesterday I was very tempted to buy these ice cream sandwiches that had relatively little sugar in them. But, even with that little amount, I wondered if it would have been worth using my extra points when a delicious square of Trader Joe's 72% dark swiss chocolate is so incredibly satisfying at only 2.25 grams. I am very grateful that Eric has joined me in this dietary change. Not only because it makes him healthier as my husband, but also because it is so much easier to stay on track with a partner to help you in your darker moments. That is also why I so appreciate you two sticking with me on this site and helping me. It's a good thing!
