Day 71 of the 100 day personal challenge of no drinking or desserts.

I look forward to my next glass of wine!

I am frustrated by fluctuations in weight and amazed at how they can encourage or discourage me. Sometimes my weight can vary 3 or 4 lbs during the course of the day, depending on when I weigh myself: right when I get up, after the gym, after the bathroom, after a whole day at work... it's amazing. In spite of good fiber intake and lot s and lots of veggies, I have a bowel movement only about once a week. By Day 5 or 6 I feel really bloated. If I take exlax to move my bowels, then it causes too much water weight loss and I know that it is not good to do this. I only rely on exlax when I am traveling. I am working to INCREASE my water and fiber intake. Any ideas out there?

Weigh yourself just once a week. Get yourself a refillable water bottle and decide how many you need to drink a day then place that many rubber bands on it. As you drink the bottle empty and refill it remove a rubber band. All rubber bands must be removed before you go to bed each night.

Cool idea, lmgenis! I just bought three water bottles on Monday and have filled them up to total the amount of water that I need to drink each day (75 oz) I almost made it yesterday.... about 2 glasses short. Will try again, today. I don't have a reliable clean water source where I work so I'm bringing clean water from home...

It is ideal to weigh yourself only first thing in the morning, after your morning pee, before you eat or drink anything. Throughout the day, everyone's body weight fluctuates. As your body takes in the water and food to process, you have periods of back-log in "work" for the body. Weighing in the morning, after your body has fasted through the night, is the most accurate assessment because that is when your body is most ready for the "work." I weigh myself every few days or once a week. Some people like to weigh daily. You just don't want to weigh yourself multiple times throughout the day, only first thing in the morning. =)
