Hi everyone! Thank you for the wonderful comments. They each gave me something to think about.

I am not eating perfectly BUT I am finding that I am able to interrupt and stop my frantic urges to eat with this medication. For example, I ate 3 small choc chip cookies on Wed. Well, I'm not supposed to eat those and typically I would eat the whole jar once I got started. But I stopped at 3. This morning at work, someone made this really good egg casserole for breakfast. I was thinking how I wanted several servings of this, it was so good. I was able to stop and think, "oh, I'm full. I don't want anymore." after one serving.

If you look at my weight chart you see that I typically can go 2 weeks without binging and then I fall hard. So I will just take it day-by-day and see how it goes. Cautious optimism, right?

I know I am not supposed to keep the junk food in the house and if I lived alone I would. But I have my boyfriend and his sister. His sister refuses to stop buying it and I don't do the food shopping. It's a no win situation on that one. So I keep almonds, macadamia nuts, carrots, cucumber, eggs in the house for me. (I don't do food shopping right now b/c I got hit by that car last year and I can barely walk.)

Yes, I totally agree that I should do different activities when my desire to binge eat arises. I am hoping this medicine helps me by slowing down that frantic feeling you get when all you can think about is stuffing your face and the ideas of "let's do something else instead" are in the back of your brain and you just can't focus on those.

@Katsolo - Yes I have done mindfulness exercises many times. And I do think they help a lot but the big problem comes with interrupting the frantic binge urges so that you can pause and think about your tools. I think the medicine may help me so that I can use this technique more.

I hope everyone has a really nice weekend!

You have a nice weekend also. Would it be a possibility for the sister to put the junk in her room so it's not out in the open?
