Tuna Patties

Tasty tuna patties that are full of protein.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Spray skillet with cooking spray like Pam and heat on medium.
  2. Mix all ingredients together well.
  3. Spoon mixture onto heated skillet. Divide the mixture to make six patties or a size that makes it easy to flip them over with a spatula without breaking.
  4. Cook patties until both sides are a light brown, firm and there is no egg flowing out of patty.

I overcooked cooked these a little. I added a little celery for an extra crunch and put a little cheddar on top after they were cooked. I think this recipe would be good without cooking maybe rolled in a romaine leaf.

these were sooo good!!! I did alter the recipe a little though. I used a small can of tuna and instead of a whole egg, I just used one egg white. I also added a splash of lemon juice! I also only made two patties.

Too much egg for one can of tuna. Also lacked a little flavor so I added hot sauce.

I'm from New Orleans, so here's a great way to spice this up: 1. use 1/3 cup of oatmeal flakes: Don't add them in. Every time you make a patty, dip the patty lightly in the flakes and pat it firm, then fry. 2. use 1/2 cup of diced celery: The crunch is what I miss in a lot of low-cal foods, but this will bring it back for no calorie cost 3. add 1/2 teaspoon of Zatarain's Liquid Crab Boil: This spicy liquid plus the celery (which tends to make "strings" when broken up) will give you the feeling of crab meat instead of just tuna. Alternative to #3: Add yellow mustard as your adhesive. Fish and mustard go together well. And I like to add 1/2 of chopped GREEN onion; the visual and taste effects are great. Keith in Orlando

Very confused on the amounts. Because it says ONE CAN, I used the 12 oz. bigger can, since I was supposed to get 6 patties that looked like the pic?? Then, had one serving, thinking it should be 1/6th of what I made and for 271 calories, didn't make sense. So...I looked at the tuna can (60 cals per serving - 5 servings per can) and 1 egg is 70 calories, so it stands to reason that I could have 3 and a 1/2 of those patties. They were dry. I would add another egg white next time for more protein and could spare the calories.

S'okay. It was a little dry though. Other than that it was really good with onion.

I really wanted these to be good as they have the potential for being portable without bread. Took them with me to work and was glad I had breakfast left over as I couldn't finish these! I have limited ability to smell most things, but I could sure smell these when I opened the container! Yuck! I prefer my tuna in a sandwich!

You need to season these well, a lot of herbs and lashings of lemon

I tried this twice. the first time I didn't get 6 patties and the 4 I did get were really thin. Nothing like the pic. The next time I made it I used 4 cans of tuna 1 whole egg 1 egg white the onions I add pepper and red pepper flakes for more flavor. This time I got 6 patties (I used a 1/3 c measurement per patty). I twas delicious. Entire hit with family!
