Current Weight

I started dieting when I was nine. Struggled with weight most of my life. Minus a brief period when I used Atkins. I went from 160lbs down to 115lbs.

I would like to get back down to a weight below 200lbs. I know that it would make me feel better about myself.

UPDATE: I am below 200lbs and have been for 7 ish years. I’m not to my goal weight but I have found a diet that I can consistently eat. There was lots of things I did… but the biggest thing was I prayed about it.

Disabled and Trapped in a Fat Suit! Advice?
UPDATE: I started with portion control in the wake of a rough breakout with a man that was as addicted to food as I was. (Late 2014) By then my weight had gotten to around 265lbs. In the summer of 2015, I switched to a low carb Atkins style diet. It is meant for those with more sedentary lifestyles. I began to think things like “I don’t eat sugar.” “I don’t eat pasta.” “I don’t eat bread.” etc etc. Because my plan has always been to have a new way of eating. In the early days of my diet, I was gifted a Cricut. So I made paper crafts and listened to sermons, audiobooks, and music while keeping my hands busy. (Nothing like not wanting food stains on your cardstock to keep you from snacking.)

In December 2019, I began to receive treatment for my SMA freeing me up to exercise and push myself. Now that didn’t look like regular exercise but like trying to open containers, do more of what I could, try things that I failed at like opening the refrigerator independently, etc.

It has been 8 years of eating low carb almost everyday. I sometimes check up on my portion and calories to make sure my diet is on track. I weigh 150.5lbs as of my last weigh in. (Back at the end of 2022.)

I hope to actually do workouts in 2023 at the YMCA. I love the pull system machine.

Hopefully others can be helped by all this sharing.

Disabled and Trapped in a Fat Suit! Advice?
@mummydee I attempted for a few days to take a food diary to let myself know that I had gained bad food habits... so yes the food in the recent updates are terrible. Marshmallow Mateys is a generic Lucky Charms cereal.

@Eileen Elder I am not just waiting for approval... because regardless of what doctors or insurance say or approve... I need to lose weight. I just want my effort to mean results. I'd like to have a diet that can become a success and a new way of eating for the rest of my life. I don't want to be back here at this weight or higher. I want to be better than that.

I LOVE the gaming and book ideas! I also adore the long "walk" suggestion. It's extremely hard to eat while doing any of these activities.

Thanks for all the advice and encouragement! I have Spinal Muscular Atrophy type 3 for those of you wondering.

Disabled and Trapped in a Fat Suit! Advice?
I was wondering what type of diets people who are wheelchair bound or bed-ridden have had success with.

Calorie counting is so difficult when you hardly move! There has to be a better way.

?? Advice ??
