I am a 40 year old father of two kids. 6 and 3. I have a great family and a great life but am not as healty as I should be. I want to be more healthy for my family and for myself. I lost my favorite uncle a few years back. He had many health problems related to being very overweight for most of his adult life. It got me motivated to do something. I thought weight loss surgery was the answer for me. It is not the answer. The band can be an effective tool but it is not the answer. Changing your life is the answer. I am still learning this on a daily basis. I will never give up. I can stick with changes and habits developed slowly over a period of time. I am not able to make drastic changes and stick with them for very long. A book that changed my attitude is called "The End of Over Eating" written by the former head of the FDA. I highly recommend it. I will never give up. I was 318 at my worst Feb of 2010 and I will be very happy when I get to 213. Not sure when it will happen but that is my goal.
