Hi All!

I am the mom of three wonderful girls - 12, 13 and 17 and the wife of a wonderful man....

At 34 I said I was going to be the hottest I have ever been by age 40 - i was, at that time working out twice a day with Billy Blanks and eating healthy home cooked food... I started to battle with fatigue and lost. slowly gaining over the years and now, at 40 am the heaviest I have ever been in my life... despite watching my intake... but without energy to work out... blah!

This past week I was finally dx with hypothyroidism to the point that a dr was willing to treat it (tests have been coming back low for more than three years but they all took a wait and see attitude).

So now

Gluten Free anyone?
I live gluten free. I had to figure it out myself... how can I help? I love it. only gets difficult when i want the bad choices anyway. I eat Ezekiel bread for the occassional carb craving, but for th emost part I am going on a year probably or slightly more. I still desperately regret my falls off the wagon, but feel better now. be aware, it is often associated (no direct reason or correlation) with thyroid disorders... oh... just read that in your post. hahhaaa... yes i have that too.

recording your excercise
Do you find it helps to list all activity including driving and office work etc? Do you count up your time walking like through a store or parking lot? Or do you just list your weight training/aerobic stuff?

Anyone else battling hypothyroid??!!
I have been losing the battle with my weight for more than a year and was finally dx with Hashimoto's this week. From what I am reading - just getting balanced doesn't help mean weight loss. I am reading "The Thyroid Diet" by Mary Shomon right now and trying to make a plan. I have been living on 1200 or less calories for a year to no avail... now I am reading that too few calories is bad... too many calories is bad... So I don't know. I am only on the third chapter. I am hoping to at least have the energy to work out again once my levels are better. I would like to speak with more people battling with Hypothyroidism.

Right now my target is 1 gallon of cold water every day (water challenge).
Excercising a minimum of 30 minutes a day until my energy is back up... though I only started the medicine on Wednesday.
Working on combining aerobic with anaerobic excercises.

I got a new windows phone (samsung focus) for christmas and it happened to have a free app that links to this website. SO it lets me update my food and activity all day. Very cool for a free app. But watching my calories all day is making it difficult for me to eat enough... strange problem I know, but it isn't resulting in weight loss. I don't think I am consuming enough... thoughts and suggestions will be appreciated..

happy new year!!! and good luck to all of us in this new year.
