I was born in 1975 (making me almost 40!), and am beginning this weight loss journey at 180 pounds. I am 5 foot 10 inches tall, and think I will feel best at 150 pounds, so that is my goal weight for now, which will give me a total weight loss of 30 pounds. I have some health issues that I am dealing with which I hope will be helped by losing weight.

I am a musician/songwriter who plays the piano, sings, and plays a little bit of easy guitar. I'm also an animal lover with pet cats, a turtle, rats, and a guinea pig. I also really enjoy the outdoors and hiking during warmer months. I am currently DYING for winter to be over so that I can go outdoors and enjoy some long walks! I am NOT a winter person. I live in Ohio, USA, where the winters are long and gray! :-)

Low Carb Breakfast Ideas
I hard boil some eggs ahead of time so that I don't have to cook in the morning if I am feeling lazy. I also keep a box of Atkins bars on hand for those occasions, which are more frequent than I would care to admit!

Yoga
DoYogaWithMe.com has some nice free videos that are pretty gentle for when you are starting out. Since they are free, you could check them out and see if anything appeals to you. Good luck finding something that works for you! Smile

Protein -- how much is enough?
Maybe I am opening a can of worms here, but I am very confused about how much protein I truly need to be eating. While I am not weightlifting, I am doing enough yoga to make my muscles very sore sometimes, and I want to have enough protein to hopefully prevent muscle loss as I lose weight. Is there a good formula for estimating this that takes into account that I am NOT a bodybuilder and am very out of shape now?
