With the help of Fatsecret, I was able to zero in on the nutrition requirements set by P90x. Together, with great exercise and nutrition I was able to lose 40 lbs in 90 days. I no longer count calories, but I still journal my food to make sure I'm getting enough protein and watch my overall progress.

looking for low carb snack
I love the South Beach diet Ricotta Cheese dessert! Yummy and satisfies the sweet tooth craving. Here's the recipe: http://www.goferboy.com/shakeology-mocha-ricotta-dessert/

Aaah the protein...
johnelka is hitting the nail on the head. try to go with lean meat whole food solutions.

If you go with a protein mix, then find one that uses a whole food vegan approved protein source. More and more studies showing the grade of whey protein used in most products is terrible. And find that article in the NY times that shows the major brands like EOS, Muscle Milk and such have way too high levels of heavy metals.

HCG
Agree with all, slow and steady is the best way, and the healthy way to lose weight. I mean, you need to think of this as a long term lifestyle change. I lost 50 lbs with P90x and eating clean. I actually reached a point where I had to increase my calories to continue to lose fat weight. Now I've reached the point where I'm happy with my body fat% and now gaining weight muscle mass. But I have not changed the way I eat. I don't have a bad habit to fall back to. That's why standard diets and HCG fail in the long term.

Question for the Atkins people
I think folks need to understand that Health and fitness is a journey, not a destination. So if folks use Atkins or South Beach Diet to get started and dropping the pounds, great. I lost 50 pounds following a low carb plan and doing P90x. Now my mission is to eat clean and gain healthy lean muscle mass. I'm moving into the Vegan world with Raw nutrition in my sights. Until then I will only eat grass fed beef, free range chicken and wild fish. No more processed foods of any kind. It's been a cool journey and can't wait to see what else I learn. I just know I'm never going back to my bad eating habits and will continue to help others do the same.

Low Carb Whey Protein?
I use to take EAS until the Times came out talking about the crap that is placed in the major brand protein drinks. And by crap I mean heavy metals and all the chemicals that I can't even spell out. If you are intersted in something more then a protein shake, something more then a meal replacement or recovery drink, I highly recommend Shakeology.

I'm happy to send samples. Just msg me.
