Hello FatSecret world! I'm currently getting back on the diet wagon after falling off (and I fell off hard!). Originally, I lost 20lbs only to gain it back when my ex broke up with me as I'm an emotional eater. It's been almost three years since and I feel that it's time for me to start taking better care of not only my mind but my body as well. I also want to get back into modeling which has been huge motivation for me to get off my lazy butt. The confidence is now there, I just need the body to go with it!

feeling a little insecure in fitness classes
Thanks so much for the encouragement guys! I just have my days when I'm really down. I get impatient, but sometimes I feel an immense amount of pressure from my trainer because he told me that I should be losing more weight in the beginning stages as opposed to 2lb/week.

feeling a little insecure in fitness classes
I've been working out for about almost a month and lost a total of 5lbs with the help of a personal trainer. I'm still struggling with the whole diet and exercise thing so some days are not as good as others. For example, I feel a little insecure in group fitness classes. I'm the heaviest of all the women in my class. Most of them are taking the classes to lose the little pooch from having a baby; the others are in shape, they're just exercising to keep fit. Sometimes, I'm not able to keep up in class and feel that I'm looked at as being fat and lazy which I'm not. I absolutely hate that there are mirrors in the class because I hate looking at my body in the mirror, especially when I'm surrounded by people who have better bodies than me. Going to class can be a little discouraging and now I'm getting to the point where I'm so frustrated with the whole thing I'm ready to give up and go back to the lifestyle I'm familiar with.

Going to the gym is really screwing with my head. I love working out, but I feel insecure about my body and I'm getting frustrated that all I'm losing is 2lbs a week. Sometimes, I feel that maybe I'm just bound to be fat. I don't understand why some people can lose weight with such ease and it's a struggle for me. I have about 62lbs more to lose and that's a huge goal to achieve; I don't even know if I'm going to be able to do it!

PT wants me to increase protein intake for maximum fat loss
I'm consistently losing 2lbs a week, but when my personal trainer measures my body fat percentage, the percentage remains the same but my BMI goes down a little. I work out 6 days a week and stick to the diet he's given me which is 6-8 small meals a day with no salt, sugar or dairy and I eat between 1200-1400 calories. He wants to see me lose at least 5lbs for one week (a lot of his other clients have lost 5 or more a week during the beginning of their sessions) and he suggested that I change my protein/carb/fat ratio to 50/30/20. However, at the end of the day, my carbs are always in the 120-145g range with my protein straggling behind between 66-105g.

I have so many questions and I'm just plain confused and a little discouraged. Could my body fat percentage be stalled because I'm eating too many grams of carbs? Or could it be that I work out too much? How can I increase my protein intake and is increasing my protein intake safe?

Kettle Bells
I'm not gonna lie, I am not a fan of kettle bells. I groan in disgust when my PT makes me do the kettle bell lifts or make me run laps with the bell held in front of me lol. Maybe over time, I'll grow to love and appreciate them

What do you do when you don't have support?
Sorry for the delayed response. Thank you guys so much for the responses. I'm getting the hang of forgoing the fattening things I once craved and loved and replacing them with healthier options. If I ever want a slice of strawberry cheesecake, I eat strawberries or low fat, sugar free strawberry cheesecake yogurt. Tastes just as good as the real thing, just not as fattening. I've also come to discover that I've begun to eat veggies and fruits I've never would have imagined eating. Things are getting easier despite the temptations around me but I'm looking at the results I'm getting and the long term benefits. I mean, I do want to be around for a long time so forgoing the sweets and fast food is worth the sacrifice.
