Current Weight

Performance: losing 12.6 lb a week

Goal Weight
150.0 lb
Still to go: 42.8 lb
So it's time for me to update my bio. When I originally joined, I was a single mom with three teenagers and a crazy life. Now I have three adult children, a new husband and a crazy life. I actually made it to my goal weight a couple of times over the last decade or so by joining gym competitions that kicked in a super competitive streak I didn't even know I had. And then sad life got in the way and I retreated into couch potato safe land. My husband is super athletic and we used to enjoy working out every morning but somewhere along the line late night Netflix binging and sleep became more important to me. Now I'm at that age where body parts just randomly start hurting. (Why doesn't anyone tell you about that??) My husband likes to say he's loved me for better, for worse, and through thick and thin. I'm tired of watching myself go downhill and I'm ready to be thin again!

FEATURE REQUEST: App Passcode!
I asked about this years ago and I can't believe the iPhone app still doesn't have a passcode. Even my grocery store apps have Touch ID and all I'm asking for is basic app security. How many of you hand your phone to someone showing off your adorable kid/dog/vacation photos only to realize your phone ended up in the hands of that aunt that has no boundaries and is digging through everything? That and I don't want my SO knowing how much I actually weigh. No judging people! Laughing

PLEASE PASSCODE PROTECT THE APP!

Soup for a cold day
I'm going to try this one tonight: Mexican Style Soup http://fatsecret.com/recipes/mexican-style-soup/Default.aspx

Also, I really like this one from Linda's Low Carb site: Texas Chili http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/texas_chili.html. I know it says "chili" but it's more of a tomato broth base than a thick chili.

And: "Split Pea" Soup (It's bizarre in that instead of split peas it's made with frozen cauliflower and green beans but you really can't taste the difference!) http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/split_pea_soup.html

Snack Ideas
Here's a few:

Microwaved canned diced tomatoes with Hormel Real Crumbled Bacon. (Make sure you check carbs and serving size! For example, Del Monte has much more than Hunts and the organic brand in my local store is ridiculously high. Each can has 3.5 servings.)

Deviled eggs

Beef jerky

Lunch meat

Cheese sticks wrapped in lunch meat

Sliced avocado with ranch dressing

Sliced cucumbers and onions in italian dressing refrigerated overnight

Oscar Meyer hard salami and cream cheese rollups (not at work Very Happy )

Sliced cucumbers spread with cream cheese and topped with smoked salmon. I use Chicken of the Sea smoked salmon in the pouches. (Pat the cucumber slices dry with a paper towel before spreading the cream cheese on it.)

Tuna fish and mayo

Olives (10 for induction)

Any kind of vegetable you can cut up and dip in Ranch sour cream mix

GOOD LUCK!

What is better for losing weight: weightlifting or jogging?
Hi Snow833,
It's almost a trick question. Cardio is always the best fat burner BUT weightlifting builds muscle and a pound of muscle burns more calories than a pound of fat even while you're just sitting on the couch. Also, weightlifting helps to combat osteoporosis as well has having lots of other benefits. Cardio obviously is great for your heart and lungs, etc. Sooo...you should do some of both if you can. I lift weights before work and then go for a walk on my lunch hour. I walked very slow initially but am now up to a pretty brisk pace and I find that's enough for me for now.

iPhone Passcode
Is there a way to set a passcode on the mobile phone apps? I have an iPhone that lots of people borrow and, right now, anyone can launch the app and see all my information. Embarassed Thanks.
