Net Calories Burned
My amount of burned calories changes depending on my energy level and what I have been eating. I try to burn at least 400-500 calories most days, sometimes burn a lot more. I don't think it helps me to have a goal as to calories burned (though that might work for someone else), but I just try to get several days of exercise a week. I have some regular things I do, like playing tennis, running and going to the gym. I think it's just best to establish rituals and do those things; if you're not doing enough, increase it, and if you're feeling burned out, cut back some.

Time to get serious!
I've been running around Town Lake (I guess it's Lady Bird Lake now) with a buddy of mine--we did 13 miles last week.

hot weather vs. cold weather
I've often thought that the rise in obesity in the last 50 years is related to the rise in air-conditioning. I wouldn't be surprised if walking in hot weather burns more calories.
