busy mother of three trying to make some changes...my weight is totally out of control...i've always been heavy but neevvver this big...so with the help of a couple of friends i'm trying to do something about it. we have our own little weight loss challenge going on. we started on 1/11/08 and will end on 4/4/08. i know i won't reach goal by then but i intend to get as close as possible and win some cash along the way! :-) i've done atkins before with much success, but hadn't commited to the lifestyle to stay thin so that is my goal now...i think i've done pretty well this week but haven't gotten on the scales since last friday. so i'll let you all know my progress soon!

Potassium levels
good point...i remember my dad doing atkins about 25 years ago and going into the hospital for surgery then being told they had to wait before performing the surgery because he had no potassium in his system...also he serveral hemorroid surgeries...which i think may be a problem that was exacerbated by not having enough fiber in his diet, so we need to watch out for that too!

MISERABLE
you could try a sugar free jello cup with whipped cream on top...i'm sure it's a lousy substitute for what you saw on that dessert table, but it's safe and it can satisfy your sweet tooth immediately...

nuts
if i eat nuts i will not lose...i don't know why, because they aren't really high in carbs...it bums me out because sometime you just want some dang on almonds...but i just can't have that Crying or Very sad

i can get away with a sprinkling of sunflower seeds on a salad...maybe i just eat too many if i'm snacking on them...

i just don't even tell most people that i'm doing atkins because i seriously don't wanna hear all the blah, blah, blah from people who never have read the book, assume it's a zero carb diet were all you do is eat pork chops and cheese all day...Neutral
