Due to my fast decreasing health in 2012/13 and seizure-like episodes I was bound to a wheelchair and later my bed for almost a year. During all this time none of my doctors even thought about ordering a thyroid test, however they did every other test known to man to rule out cancer, rheumatic diseases, etc.
Towards summer 2013 I ended up in the hospital once more after an extreme tachycardia. Luckily for me this time, I was being initially screened by a young doctor that listened to my story with care and diagnosed me with Hashimoto after ordering labs and sonography.
From that day my symptoms improved, but until the end of 2014 my Hashimoto was not considered under control. I went through many hormone adjustments, one with more side effects than the other, and from september 2013 to december 2013 (yes, 3 months) I had gained over 30 whooping kilos.
In 2014 my health improved considerably through new meds. I was able to take shopping again, or have a walk longer than 20 minutes a time which was unimaginable before.
Now, for 2015, my goal is to lose some of the weight I had packed on due to hormone changes. Currently I am going yet again through a new adjustment of thyroid hormones so I have to be extra careful to not gain even more, but my longtime goal is to slowly and steadily get back to at least the 70s range of weight through healthy meal preps and "increased activity" which for me means mostly walks and gentle nordic walking, as my body still does not tolerate a normal workout.
I wish you all a great journey and hope that you may always find the motivation to push on.
I now find beauty and happyness in the so considered smaller things of life (which are by no means small - it's all about perspective) and I sincerely wish for you that you find it, too.
