I live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest and our lifestyle up here is supposed to be healthy and active. I finally took my weight loss seriously in 2014 after my Dr. diagnosed me with Rheumatoid Arthritis. I used to be active (fishing, camping and hiking) and since gaining weight, losing weight, gaining it again( my highest was 250) I just can't do this yoyo thing anymore. I've lost the weight before only to return to bad habits or just become so busy that I didn't put my health and well being as a priority. This time I will. I will not go back to 2014, when I hurt so bad, and could hardly move around! I have 2 daughters and 6 grandchildren I want to keep up with. Not to mention my outdoors-man husbands cholesterol is horrible and I'm the chief cook. It has to be a lifestyle change this time. I did weight watchers but now am back to fatsecret. I find the community at fatsecret more encouraging and supportive. I know this time I've really committed.

where is everyone?
I think it's also the time of year. Vacations, kids home from school, yard work etc. I know I haven't been good about tracking, I've been too busy gardening and playing outside Smile

High Protein Pancakes
Great recipe, I have to eat a bigger breakfast and protein in the am so I can take my meds. It also helps me stay satisfied and out of the empty calories during the day. I've eaten oatmeal with cottage cheese before so I know I'll like these.

Facing Reality
Hi Jeld! I also like the title "Facing Reality" I too have pain and it was the pain that finally made me make this a lifestyle change instead of a diet. Since it's a life change and it's for life when I have a bad day I don't beat myself up as badly as I did when I was yoyo dieting for vanity. I know it took me a long time to gain the weight and learn the bad habits. It will take awhile to relearn new ones. Just keep trudging along. With each month new habits will form. I surprise myself with some of the good choices I make now without thinking. Like drinking water, I hated it but now crave it.

As a recovering sugar addict I know how you feel. I do use sugar free items to help when I have cravings. My favorites are parfaits with SF cheesecake pudding and fresh berries, SF jello, fruit and a small amount fat free cool whip, dark chocolate chips (just enough to melt) and dip a few strawberries in it (just the tip). These have helped me move away from all of the sugar and bad carbs I was eating. It is true, after not eating sugar for awhile fruit is very satisfying (just darn expensive)

I work in a Dementia care facility. With the amount of walking etc. I should be skinny and be able to eat like a horse. The problem is, our bodies are used to this activity and according to my DR. I have to increase my physical activity to lose weight. It's like those exercise trainers on TV. I have to switch it up, trick my body by doing new activities to lose weight. It frustrating. I just count my actually extra activity.
