23 November 2007
Well, my daughter and I went to a restaurant for Thanksgiving since it is just the 2 of us. I cheated, but not as bad as I thought I would. We ate at 12 noon - to avoid the EVENING MAJOR FOOD thing.
I order butternut squash soup - it came in a tiny cup - I had 1/2 of it. It was DELICIOUS!
Then I ordered Turkey (no stuffing or gravy), glazed carrots, mashed potatoes (that was the "meal") I had one small slice of dry turkey breast, I did have a few spoons of the white potatoes (Hey, that turkey was DRY without gravy - and the gravy had flour in it-so I had to smother it in something!). I did eat the glazed carrots - but they weren't incredibly sweet.
Then I made a gluten free pumpkin pie when we got home (this is where I was bad). I had 2 slices.
So this morning, I am back on the plan. Luckily my daughter will no doubt snarf the remaining pie so it won't be a temptation!
So I guess I wasn't "GOOD" but I definitely wasn't a disaster either! I think the best thing (for me) is that I went RIGHT back into phase 2 this morning. I think I should go to phase 1 technically, but I was so board of eating brown rice and veggies 2x a day, and oatmeal for breakfast...but if the weight stops coming off I will return to the Land of the Bland!

I am still struggling with working out - every time I hit the gym I am in bed, in PAIN for 2-3 days. I guess I just have to take a breath, and realize it is going to be a slow and steady event...sigh.
I am sticking to the diet except at night - I eat a strawberry yogurt pop to help with those sugar cravings. To balance that I only eat one yogurt during the day - an Activa - which is only 4 oz (I am allowed 2 six ounce yogurts) and I add fresh grapes and strawberries to the vanilla.
I still get hungry - even with eating frequently, which is odd.

I went to the gym and worked out on the stationary bike for 15 min. I know i am supposed to work out for 30 but with Lupus, RA, and Fibromyalgia the last time I went for 25 minutes I flared for a week! So I am going to have to slow it down and, as my Rheumatologist reminds me, this diet was designed for healthy people. I am not healthy so my weight loss will probably be slower. I hope I can do less but go in more often - but that may take a while to build up!
My addition for this week is meditating and visualizing my new body (you can tell I am a shrink!). I have to remember that I have to LOVE my body the way it is before the weight will come off (at least for me).
Since I am in phase 2 but can't exercise a lot I am only adding in meat at dinner - and just a small amount.
Cheers!
