Hi from Colorado!

I am on the Fat Smash Diet.

Briefly, I had always been very very thin (108 at 5'5"). I developed a number of severe health issues about 13 years ago - Systemic Lupus, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Fibromyalgia, and a disorder which caused me to have a stroke and throw 2 clots - both massive DVT's. After the second DVT I gained 20 lbs IN ONE MONTH! I was crazed! I hadn't changed meds, activity level or food intake. So for 2 years now I have struggled trying to lose the weight. One major problem is I cannot work out as often as is suggested in the diet (or any diet) because I have a lot of major joint replacements. Also even doing a stationary bike for 20 minutes will cause me to be bed ridden and in severe pain for up to a week.

I was scared to join here bc I didn't want people giving me grief because my current weight is many people's goal weight. But I have gained 3 sizes in clothes and do NOT want this to continue. I need to be healthy - and I think my "normal" weight was too low, so I am shooting for something healthier.

I look forward to any advice and support you all have to give!

Since starting my diet I...
This is a great idea bc it makes one think of the POSITIVE not the negative (ie - omg I am not at my goal wt yet!)

1. I am not terrified to look in the mirror when I get out of the shower
2. I FEEL healthier (which says a LOT)
3. I am celebrating even the small wt losses (.5 lb) because the scale is moving in the RIGHT direction
4. My cravings are decreasing
5. My daughter (who does NOT have a wt problem) is eating more fruits and veggies bc I have the fridge stocked with them
6. I have given up coffee completely (and I have NO migraines anymore)
7. I am starting to feel sexy - which is a change at 49 since my hubby (he is 62) left me a year ago after having several affairs
8. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel

Thanks for the support - bc of this website I have decided to go back to work as a therapist - despite my severe health issues. I am feeling better bc of the program and reading your posts.

Thank you to all of you (even those of you that have never heard of me)

Going to Start Up Again Soon
Hi
I know this question was asked before, but I couldn't find the response! What is the Extreme fat diet? I have heard it referred to before.

Congrats on the 17 pounds (17 right?) that is terrific!

Take care,

Celiac Disease
Hi guys - I am new to the site. I am finished with phase 1 tomorrow! I have an "allergy" to wheat and gluten. Does anyone have any suggestions for substitutions? My diet is already SO restricted! If you have any thoughts or recipes I would be THRILLED!

Off to phase 2!

A Newbie!
Hi!

I am just about to finish phase I of the fat smash diet! I am concerned because of health reasons (check my bio) I cannot work out 5 times a week and am concerned about adding meat and other calories if I can't work out very often. Should I stay on Phase I (don't worry - I have a medical doctor in tow, I won't hold your responsible for giving me advice!javascript:insertsmiley('Smile%20','/static/images/emoticons/smile.gif'Wink

Thanks and take care!
