I have been a member of fat secret for a few years, but have never taken the time to create a profile - so here it is.
Instead of saying my age and having to update my profile, I will just say I was born in 1968. I am a father and husband - it is what makes me happy. I love being "Dad" and I love my wife. I work in the telecommunications industry, but that is how I pay the bills.
As a teenager, I was never really fat. It took college and all that goes with it (read "BEER and Pizza") for me to get fat. After I left school I became a work-aholic. That resulted in even worse eating habits and less exercise. By 32, I was 320lbs and diabetic. I did a tremendous job and skinny'ed down to about about 220 (I don't remember exactly). Then complacency set in and I was back up to 285.
Round 2 of weight loss had me down to 229. Then work and complacency, and back up to 265.
That is where this new round started in late Aug of 2014.
I have always had the ability to focus intensely on a few goals, achieve them and move forward. That is what makes being healthy so hard - there is no finish line. I have to change who I am, not just what I do. I have to do that this time, the yo-yo weight and letting my diabetes get out of control is recipe for death.
I want to inspire my family that they can do whatever they want to with enough determination. I am determined to change who I am. I will be a healthy person.
