Hola! My name is Margaret, I'm 24 years old and FINALLY getting healthy after being overweight my whole life.

I started to lose weight officially in Jan 2010, when I was at my heaviest at 205 lbs at a whopping (sarcasm) 5'4''. I never thought I was that bad and THAT unhealthy, but I was. I started to count my calories (was horrified by what I thought was low-cal and healthy and really wasn't) and exercising 4-6 times per week. Two years later, thanks to FS, support and some staple low-cal items that have filled me up for the last year, I reached my initial goal of losing 55 lbs as of 4/7/11. I'm now holding steady around 145 lbs, working on my first half-marathon and turning fat into lean muscle mass.

Even in high school I was never lean or healthy, so I am wandering through no-man's land now and loving it. As an adult, I was always at least a size 12 (going all the way up to a size 18), but now I am comfortable in sizes 6/8. I HATE cliches, but I will own up to this one: if I can do it, ANYONE can. If you think you're one of those who CAN'T, drop me a line and I will horrify you with stories of how bad I used to be :)

For peanut butter lovers....
Is PB2 the powdered kind? I am a peanut butter FREAK but can't find one that is low cal enough for me and that still tastes legit.

Booze - To count or not to count?
Calories are calories. They count on your body, so count them! Smile

Does plateauing always happen?
I've plateaud twice already (60 lbs total, at 40 and 52ish pounds). The only thing I can say is to keep going what you know is right, and go at it harder. Even if you don't see the scale move for a month or so, healthy living is the only real option you've got!

Exercise Sucks!
Omg I totally agree - the hardest part of my day is ALWAYS the drive to and walking into the gym. I love the end of my workout solely because it is OVER and I don't have to do it anymore. Someone told me also that it takes 4 weeks to make something a habit, and 4 more weeks to actually begin enjoying it. Thats 2 months right there. And even 16 months and 55 lbs later, there are still times when the last thing in the world I want to do is workout, and I know working out will only make me angrier. The difference between now and then (55 lbs ago) is that I know this is what I have to do to remain healthy. My life depends on exercise now. Good luck Smile

About to hit a bump and need a big push to move forward
That's one of the hardest parts! Continue to live healthily and the way you know is right (clearly from your success already, you know how to do it the right way), and the numbers will eventually catch up. There were a few times when I had to take 10-12 days to really make an extra effort to stick to my calorie counts, exercise intensely and practice healthy habits (drinking lots of water, no alcohol, getting good rest, etc), when I had to break through some plateau's. Good luck and congrats on your success so far!
