I have several autoimmune diagnoses, rheumatoid arthritis, Graves, Addisons, etc. probably started due to polio. Because of the 25 years on steroids I also now have Cushings. Cushings causes extreme weight gain in belly, face, around the collarbone, and at the top of the back. I went from 135 to 166.6 and couldn't lose weight, continued to gain, with under 1000 kC per day. I am 76 and disabled so exercise is quite light. With post polio, if I exercise too much, it can damage the nerves and lose ground. Since Jun 1, 2022 I have been determined to lose. I have lost 20 pounds so far, and want to get back to 135. 10 more to go. The only way I can is 600 to 800 kC per day.

It is not unusual for a young teenager to pack on some extra poundage just before a major growth spurt. Don't be to hard on yourself. Now is the time to learn and practice smart eating habits, and work on your posture, plus build some regular exercise habits into your day. Even walking to the mailbox and back a few times, or walking to dog a couple times a day will help to develop good habits.

A Little Salt in Your Water?
Remember table salt has added iodine, which you need for thyroid function. If you switch to other salt, you need to get iodine somewhere else.
