Good morning, fam. I had a good full body workout last night. Usually I lift heavy with short rest times, which keeps my HR elevated, but yesterday’s approach was slow and controlled. Still feeling a bit weak - maybe I’m just fragile emotionally - but I’m glad I managed to hit every muscle group (except lower abs). I never know which lower ab exercises are safe for diastasis recti because they all tend to cause my mommy tummy to bulge/dome, so I’ve been avoiding those altogether.

I’ve been eating at a slight deficit all week (expect Monday), so tummy feels flatter than usual; but no worries, I’m about to ruin that! There’s lots of family time coming up this weekend with a late lunch of rich Uzbek food tomorrow with no vegetable in sight. There will be plenty of alcohol though, so l’chaim! 😅

Frustration… I has it. I really thought I was over this horrible 2-week cold, but I woke up with a swollen neck and a sore throat despite feeling so much better yesterday. There’s no cough this time, but it hurts to speak and to swallow. Uhh perfect timing since I have four scheduled meetings at work today where I’ll need to be able to speak without wincing. Gah. Last night was my second night in a row of less than 4 hours of sleep for no apparent reason. My body is failing me. Body, wyd?

I expected a gain because my activity levels have been low but cals have remained high. I’ve been trained to comfort myself with rich foods when I’m sick from a young age, so my typical salads and cold meals have not been very appealing lately. I hate struggling like this, so I’m going to plan all my meals in advance and try to take all emotion out of it.

The number on the scale means very little to me at this point, but not being able to work out as hard as I want to and being stuck in this “rest to feel better” state has been very frustrating. Mentally, I’m trying to remain strong, but it’s hard when everything just seems to suck so bad.

We’re chartering a sailboat on Sunday and getting a small group together to scatter dad’s ashes in the Hudson River. Maybe after we do this, it’ll close some proverbial chapter that will bring us all more peace. But then again, I’m absolutely terrible at goodbyes. I’d like to just wake up and feel at peace because something good is happening. Im sick and tired of feeling so sick and tired.
