I forgot my gloves at home, so I couldn’t deadlift heavy, but I still got an amazing workout in today. The gym was busier than usual, so I couldn’t get to the squat racks either, but I did what I could with free weights.

I did get a little overzealous with the glute drive machine because I noticed I was able to lift 20lbs more than last week, but the belt dug into my skin and left what can only be described as a giant hickey. It doesn’t hurt, but looks pretty gnarly.

I managed a quick run (ok, jog) tonight and it felt great! I had to stop after 2 miles because my lungs were burning and my sides were cramping, but I’m happy I found the energy to do it despite being terribly sleep deprived.

I looked at my workouts this year and realized that I only ran a total of 5 times since the beginning of July. I’m really hoping I can go back to weekly runs to build my stamina and pace back up. I remember when I ran regularly, I had so much more energy and I slept much better. I’ve gotten used to 4-5 crappy hours per night, but I really miss conking out and sleeping so deeply, that I actually wake up refreshed.

Life has gotten way too complicated this summer and I’m craving peace, balance, and routine. My energy levels seem a little better this week, so I’m going to push myself to be more active again.

Lifting makes me feel pretty badass and running makes me feel free. I realize I need both to feel my best. 💖🧜🏻‍♀️
