I'm almost 22 years old, a senior at GMU in Fairfax, pursuing a BS in Community Health with a minor in Nutrition. I am hoping to apply to grad school at FSU to continue with a MS in Sports Nutrition.

Fitness and health have always seemed to be a huge part of my life. Whether it was cheerleading, soccer, gymnastics, swim, rowing, etc... I was always physically active. Once in high school, I found my true passion for health care beginning with introduction Physical Therapy classes. Since then, I have been exploring my options in rehabilitation therapy, Athletic Training, Physician Assistant, Nutritionist, etc. Regardless of my career path, there is no doubt that nutrition and health will follow me.

My overall goal is to meet my current goal weight, then move to weight training and gain 3-5lbs in muscle through strength exercise. I hate the idea of GAINING weight, but I know it will be good for me :)

Start:
Oct. 4 - 125 lbs

Current:
Jan. 16 - Made my goal weight of 110! Now, changing new goal weight to 115 of +5lbs pure muscle

Is This The Only Weight Loss Website You Use?
I have been using the CalorieCounter/Fat Secret application on my phone since last Nov. I've loved it, but it has come to make me obsessive with counting calories... I just got a fitbit device the other day for my birthday, so I am going to move on to that online website now and try to not worry about how many calories a day I am eating, and to focus on just eating healthy. Wish me luck! Who knows, maybe i'll be back here within the week Razz

Calorie Count too restrictive?
You shouldnt be eating less than 1200 calories regardless. They say this because with restricting yourself to such few calories, you are not at all getting the necessary amt of vitamins, minerals, etc. that your body needs to survive on. If you were doing it temporarily (no more than a couple days), then fine. But I wouldn't recommend continuing with that calorie restriction because 1. your body will go into "starvation mode" and you will actually not lose fat, but muscle because your body will be feeding off itself and 2. you will most likely binge when put into times of temptation. I only say this from past experience. I've found it is best if you just make healthy choices from here on out and know that it is a continuous process and shouldn't be rushed. All good things come to those who wait! Just be patient and you will see and feel the results you are looking for.

GREEN TEA?!
I drink at least 3 cups/mugs a day all thanks to my familys Kuerig brewer!

Here's what the experts quoted in WH Magazine say: "It's the closest thing to a metabolism potion," says Tammy Lakatos Shames, R.D., author of Fire Up Your Metabolism: 9 Proven Principles for Burning Fat and Losing Weight Forever. The brew contains a plant compound called ECGC, which promotes fat burning. In one study, people who consumed the equivalent of three to five cups a day for 12 weeks decreased their body weight by 4.6 percent. According to other studies, consuming two to four cups of green tea per day may torch an extra 50 calories. That translates into about five pounds per year. Not bad for a few bags of leaves, eh? For maximum effect, let your tea steep for three minutes and drink it while it's still hot.
