I have been dieting most of my life. I went on my first big diet when I was 13. I have gained and lost probably a couple of hundred pounds in my lifetime. I have been a FatSecret member since 2010. 2012 was really the year I made the connection. I was diagnosed with Type II Diabetes and this scared me into taking some real action. I lost 50 pounds and got into the best shape of my life. Unfortunately, it didn't last. I gained it all back, and stopped exercising. I became obese and sedentary again. Now I'm looking at myself all over again, and wondering what I can do again to regain that level of fitness and good healthy eating. I decided to turn back to Fat Secret. It really helped me back in 2012, 2013. Here I am again. Let's see what I can do.

Night Eating
I am having such a problem with night eating. I work second shift, and I get home at 11, and I want to scarf the whole house up. Last night I did pretty well, I ate some baby carrots and was able to go back to bed. I will lay there in bed, hungry and thinking about food. It is such a struggle. Does anyone else have this problem, and how do you deal with it?

Clothes size vs. actual size
I used to work in the fashion industry in New York and I know full well what everyone's talking about. Vanity sizing is alive and well, and most high end manufacturers practice it. Which is why you wear a smaller size in most American high-end designers, but more affordable clothing usually doesn't practice vanity sizing so you would tend to need a bigger size. Most European and Asian designer clothing tends to run small - they don't go in for vanity sizing. So you could wear a 12 in a Japanese designer, an 8 in a Ralph Lauren, and a 10 in a dress you bought from J.C. Penney. Also, the average fit model is a "perfect" size 8 - 5'6 1/2" to 5'8" tall, 37 inch bust, 27 inch waist and 37 inch hips - that's the size they make their patterns from. In women's it is extra hard to find a length that fits you, because the average woman is 5'4" and pants are sized to fit a fit model that is 5'7". It also explains why tall women have trouble finding pants that are long enough, because pants are based on that 5'7" fit model. Jeans are the worst - they are all over the place. Most women hate shopping for swimsuits and jeans. Manufacturers also don't account for people who are short waisted or long waisted. Clothes can be such a hassle!

PMS'n hard and craving Chocolate!!!
I second and third all the ideas about No Sugar Added Fudgesicles, dark chocolate and Sugar Free Jello Chocolate Pudding. I have been doing really well with my cravings with using all of these options. I also have some Diet Hot Cocoa - Swiss Miss I think, and that only has 25 calories a cup.

38 1/2 -39 year olds
I turn 38 this month - I'm not 38 1/2 but I am anxious to be in really good shape by the time I turn 40, and I have a goal of wanting to lose 100 pounds, so it might take me that long to get there. I just started going back to the gym this past month and it's an awkward transition for me but I am committed. I definitely want to be fit and fabulous by 40!
