I've done South Beach Diet twice and always lost weight fast, but never been able to keep it off. I know it requires a lifestyle change, but I don't want to be miserable. I'm going to try to compromise by making small changes in my life, including moderate regular exercise.

Just starting
Yes, I agree with you on that site reccomendation. I actually printed out the list of what you can and can't eat and keep a copy in my kitchen and gave one to my husband for him to keep at work!

When friends aren't supportive...
Just a moment to vent. I have a friend who is heavier than I am and today when I told her my goal was to lose 15 pounds, she started really giving me crap about it.

"You look great! Why would you do that?" I tried to explain that I wanted a healthier lifestyle, not just a smaller waist-line, but she wasn't listening. She didn't know me before I put on 15 pounds after college, so she doesn't know what I looked like before...

She said something like, "if you think you need to lose weight, i can't imagine what you think about me." But its not about that at all! I don't think bad about her. First, we have very different body frames. Second, we have very different lifestyles. She always looks classy and knows how to dress herself professionally even if she is a size 16. I didn't know what to say... Why can't she just support my goals?

Newbie!
Believing that it's possible to hit my target weight is def a challenge for me. Last night I fell asleep during my meditation before I even got to the part where I imagine myself at my target weight/health. Twenty minutes on the gazelle wore me out!

Newbie!
My name is Stefanie and I'm 24. I've gained about 15 pounds since I graduated from college almost 2 years ago. My desk job is really packing on the pounds. I'd love to hear if anyone has any experience with self-hypnosis/mediation for weight loss.
