Hi! I'm a 43 year old divorced mom of two great kids, ages 7 and 9. Before I got pregnant, I was very unhealthy - size 22, 2 pack a day smoker, no exercise. I lost 90 pounds and kept it off for over 3 years, then got pregnant - twice - with associated weight gain. After my divorce, I lost weight dramatically (too much) but then gained again. Right now I want to lose about 25 pounds and I started the Abs Diet on Jan 1.

Hi everyone - I just switched over from the Abs diet to see if I could do a little better on WW. Do any of you know of a place (other than joining WW online) where there are points listed for common foods? I know it's approx 70 calories per point but how much does fiber play in? Do most of you even out your points throughout the day, or do you save them up for dinner? Thanks for any help....

Dr Pepper addict...
If it's a straight caffeine addiction, you could try substituting green tea with caffeine. I have exactly one cup of coffee in the morning (no time for more!LOL) but if I skip it there's hell to pay. You could also resort to the No Doz tablets but that's not a great option.

any one else doing the "abs diet for women"?
I read both books. OCD I guess. LOL Mainly the portion sizes (and hence calories) seem a bit smaller in the women's section and he has a section on what to do if you're lactose intolerant, vegetarian, etc - and what to expect from hormones (they screw us over, as if we didn't know that! Smile Calcium and iron very important to us, but ABSDIETPOWER superfoods cover that if you get all the foods in your diet. He has some good modifications for the exercises based on your body type if you're needing more instruction and guidance in the strength training.

I'm not going anywhere with my weight on the plan though. To be honest I haven't stuck to his exercise plan 100% - I still cling to my cardio for dear life - but today I did the full workout with legs emphasis and NO cardio. I feel like a junkie doing de-tox from running....LOL

Any runners out there on Abs Diet?
I'm a runner too - every other day (iliotibial band flares up otherwise). The longest I've done is a half, but I typically do a long run every weekend of 6-9 miles.

The editor of men's health mag who I believe developed this diet runs every day, or so he says. I think the key is to work on muscle development in addition to the cardio. Are you competitive? If you gained a few pounds of muscle in your upper body would it throw off your pace? My problem always is trying to run on tree-trunk feeling legs after having lifted heavy weights with legs. I'm very strong - so I lift relatively heavy weight (for a girl! LOL) and it's tough to rebound and do intervals after that.

I'm planning to incorporate more short, higher speed, interval running and lay off the long and tempo runs for six weeks, and substitute a bit more weight training. Not sure what your race calendar will allow but I'm not doing another half until the fall.
