Hi, my name is Kim, I am 39 yrs old, I live in OH.

I am trying to consistently eat healthy and be more active.

I usually do good for 2 months, I lose weight and then I get bored and revert back to eating junk food.

I hope to finally be able to stop this unhealthy cycle.

I need to do it now before my weight spirals out of control as I get older.

Calorie intake/burn...
I use a Omron GoSmart pedometer, model HJ-112. It keeps track of steps, calories, and miles. It counts all steps & separately counts aerobic steps which are defined as walking more than 60 steps per minute or continuously walking for more than 10 min. On FatSecret you can record these calories as Other and it will allow you to name it (you could put walking @ work) and put in the calories burned.

How do I remain motivated?
I log my exercise on this site, but I also keep track of it in a notebook. My weekly goals are strength training on Mon, Thurs, & Sun and Cardio 5 times a week. By having those dates wrote down where I can check them off it really helps me. I have wrote them out by weeks all the way thru Dec. When I reach my goal I write GREAT JOB in the margin. It might sound silly but it helps to motivate me. It also allows me to track my progress. I keep track of my weight, body fat, muscle mass, water %, and measurements in this notebook too.

Then And Now
Great post! Portions at restaurants have gotten out of control. It's a challenge to get used to what a true portion s/b, but it's worth it. I loved Swanson TV dinners, even before they were microwaveable.

Question on how to insert exercise...
I did Jackie Warner's standing ab workout and I put it under Circuit Training. I selected that because it's how she classifies most of her videos.
