More Fast Food My Way
Me too. The competition shows are fun, but I miss the days when Food Network was mostly instructional.

But I no longer have cable and there's plenty on YouTube so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

More Fast Food My Way
There are a lot of great cooking shows out there, but for those who haven't had the pleasure, I just wanted to point my favorite: Jacques Pepin's "More Fast Food My Way."

(The format is the same as the original "Fast Food My Way" but the episodes for "More..." are easier to find on YouTube.)

Besides having Pepin, it's very nicely produced, and has a comfortable vibe, perhaps because it's shot at his home in New England. Often his daughter Claudine acts as sidekick, and she loves to bust his chops:

The recipes are supposed to be "fast," although in some cases they're only fast because Pepin is such a great cook Very Happy

Apart from my family, I'd say I've learned most of what I know about food from watching Jacques. And I think the time spent working on my cooking technique has indirectly helped me with my food/fitness goals.

"Happy cooking!"

Italian tomato sauce the way my Mother taught me from Italy
Nice-a nice! My nonna puts braciola in hers (besides the meatballs and beef ribs). I bet it's good with the chicken.

Cook Book Creations
I've made a batch of chili almost every week for the last year. I pretty much always have a small bowl as part of lunch. I never tire of it, no idea why.

Usually I use ground turkey, with a slice of bacon for flavor. (Sometimes I use ground beef.) Then a very small dice on an onion, bell pepper, and jalapeno. Plus a can of petite diced tomatoes, and some powder that I grind myself from a variety of dried chiles and cumin seeds. And some broth, and a minced clove of garlic.

I set aside the extra chili powder for dry rubs, sprinkling on eggs, etc.

Also, often I will cook chicken in my instant pot, in a couple quarts of salted water with soup veggies & peppercorns. I shred the chicken and use for chicken salad, and strain & freeze the broth. The broth is more onion-y than storebought but I like it better for that reason. I like to add a star anise clove too.

Creating Recipes
Like mummydee, I use the cookbook. It's listed under "my community" when you're on the main tab.

The cookbook recipes can be kept private. And when you're logging you can choose cookbook to list only your own recipes.

"Saved meals" I find less useful because FS lets you quickly add multiple items at once already, and you can't adjust the portion sizes of saved meals, to my knowledge.
