Where to begin? I'm a 42 year old former Marine, Father of 2, Husband of 22 years and my metabolism is starting to fade. There's really three things driving me to get serious about my health. For starters, my cholesterol is pretty high even though I wear size 29 to 30 pants and my BMI is healthy. Exercise always seemed to be enough but if you are dying on the inside what good does looking decent do for you in the long term?
I have a unique philosophy on my wedding vows. We made promises that also include being the best we can be not only for ourselves but for each other. My wife has certainly kept up her end of the deal. Size 2 and 114 lbs is pretty awesome for a 41 year old woman.I will absolutely NOT be the frumpy guy with the hot wife.
Last and really the most important. My daughter is 15 and there is a lot of pressure to somehow be perfect both from culture and from herself. I want her to see what healthy looks like in practice and not just what the media says she should be. She is beautiful and perfect to me but if she want to do a little more, I want to be able to show her how to do it right and be a good example. No fads, no pills, and no expectations based on what anyone else says.
