40+ year old woman living in Europe.

What works for me:

- No food restrictions: I eat what I want (but I cook healthy, mostly vegetarian meals.)
- Calorie intake restriction (CICO.)
- I practice yoga for my physical and mental health.
- I also walk fast/HIIT/light lift, depending of what I feel like.

I started my journey in 2018, dropped 20+Kgs and kept it off.
I changed the way I cook to low calorie, 100% fresh and vegetarian.
I started exercising and upped my exercise to my current level. I became addicted to the rush and endorphins released from working out.

I am a work in progress.

*Note: I don't log everything I eat and I don't log my work out very regularly. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. The food I log is sometimes wildly inaccurate because I only want to log a calorie count. Therefore, don't trust my food calendar and exercise. Sometimes I only use it to count things I don't out right eyeball, and give me a rough idea of where I'm at during the day.

I really try to...
- Resistance training -> yoga every day
- Cardio - Power walk 4x
- Some light weights
Doesn't always work that way, but at least it's the plan.

Hiding people from my "featured" journals
How can I just hide people I'm not interested in?

I don't want to read certain people on my front page.

Thanks.

Hello
Welcome!
A place to log (and sometimes vent Smile) helps.

WALK A LONELY ROAD
"Cheating" from time to time should be fine. As long as you don't overindulge, you can have your little bowl of ice cream if you want.

Good luck!

WALK A LONELY ROAD
Well, I disagree with what your two choices are.

I believe you have just one choice: "HOW MUCH?"
If you want to eat that cream cake, eat it. Make a choice of how much you are going to eat in order to still be in a calorie deficit by the end of the day or week.

I've tried dieting as you do. It works for some people. Some people can stick to it, be happy, lose a bunch of weight and sail into the sunset. That was not my case.

I eat what I want. My only choice is how much I will eat in order to stay in a calorie deficit and lose.
I've been doing this for almost two years, and this is the only thing that I can see myself happy with for the rest of my life. I am not deprived, I only control the portion size.
For reference, I've lost 23Kg.

Anyway... I guess I'm trying to say that life is short and you should be happy with your life choices, and there is a way of living that's right for you. If what you're doing doesn't make you happy, then it might be time to move on. Keep trying different diets (keto, calorie counting, fasting, paleo, or whatever), until you find "the one".

Good luck!
