Middle age, caucasion, married, two grown sons. Two dogs. Very ordinary. Have had a weight 'fight' for a long time. Have been real thin, 8in my younger days, and have been real heavy. Prefer thin, but it's hard to maintain. In Aug. 06, I finally gave in and went to a physician, scared I was developing diabetes. Had a full physical, even a colonoscopy! I was 268 pounds, 5 foot 3 inches. I'm not diabetic, but it put the fear of diabetes in me, and I vowed right then and there to do something about my weight.
Today I'm still 5 foot 3 inches, (can't do anything about that) but I weigh 170 and am still losing. I've taken some serious control over what I eat. I'm very proud of myself, but I know it is a day by day battle.

Determined to get through the holiday eat-a-thons
My co-workers all bring in baked and store-bought goodies, almost every day. I've resisted so far, and I am determined to stay away from them. It's all in convincing yourself that stuff isn't any good for you. Not healthy. I just hope I can keep it up. I got through Halloween, Thanksgiving and even last Christmas not eating junk or the usual carb suspects. I can do it again this Christmas. I huffed and puffed my way into a pair of size 12 jeans the other morning. No, they don't bag on me...But by gosh, I zipped 'em up! That's a long way from the size 26 I was in 16 months ago. I even tried to get my husband to notice by walking out in between him and the TV and asking if he thought they looked too tight on me....As usual, he commented I was blocking his view...but that's another story altogether.

How is everyone doing? Holidays are coming up....
I look forward to eating turkey. I love turkey. I understand that it is high in cholesterol and fat. But I only have turkey once a year. I also love cranberry sauce. But I will limit all of it. What is everyone else doing for the holidays?

"Skinny Bitch" book
Well, the book is definitely out there. The part about meat and how meat is brought to the market it quite simply, disgusting. It does make you think. What, these animals just died a 'natural death' and it's so humane to eat their remains???? Yuk!

"Skinny Bitch" book
I'm reading a book titled, "Skinny Bitch." I recommend it! It's filled with profanity, so if you're offended by that, skip it. But it's quite interesting, with lots of information. It will make you think twice about eating meat, diary and low-carb. But as always, the authors are trying to make a buck, and pushing an agenda. You have to take it with a grain of salt. Ooopps! No salt!

Looking for a daily buddy!
I've lost 98 lbs. since Aug. 2006. Two more to go for that even 100! I've mostly done my own diet, but I restrict carbs fanatically. I haven't had bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, chocolate, or even cheese and eggs since Aug. 06. I haven't missed that stuff because I enjoy watching the pounds fall off. I do exercise however. I 'slog' (A slow jog) around a track and then walk briskly carrying 5 lb. weights. My heart rate stays elevated doing that. I've gone from a size 26 to now being able to get into size 14. All without surgery!
