Diet pills - are they ALL phoney?
Like everyone else I'm always tempted when I see the diet pills advertised as a "fast fix" to the extra weight I've put on over the years. But, I have to agree with k8yk, when she says "Whatever you do, make sure it is something you want to keep doing for the rest of your life...." The bottom line is this: You are what you eat, and your body will reflect your food choices both in quality and amount. Exercising will only speed up weight-loss, tone muscles, and improve your mood. The body is meant to be healthy and will reach its ompimal weight for your unique body type in its own time. In my experience, if I get really honest with my food by writing it all down, I can see why I am gaining, losing, or maintaining my body weight. Sometimes I purposely maintain for a good long while to allow my body (aging skin) to adjust to the changes. I'm now back trying to lose the last 25 (I've lost 50) and am happy to be here with you all to discuss the process! Best wishes to you!

Wake Up Call
I had a wakeup call last night while celebrating an early Christmas dinner with family. I was very careful with food consumption but had 3 glasses of wine, which is not my usual (2 is always my limit). Anyway, when I recorded the calories I was shocked to see how many I had consumed. I'm going to be more mindful of how I tend to drink more, when I'm around relatives I find challenging. Perhaps I should just stick to water, so I can be "wide awake" and watchful for the tendency to comfort myself with food and libations. Anyone else see this trend?

Recording points???
I don't think so. You can do it at WW.com. There's fee to join, but this is included in the cost of membership (around $10 per week). For this you can go to meetings as well. I lost 50 lbs on WW over a few years, gained 20 back, and am now journaling calories for free on this website. So far lost 14 pounds and have about 31 to get to goal (as of today). I'm pretty familiar with the points system, if you'd like to "buddy up." Perhaps we could support each other. I know what it's like to have 170 pounds to lose!!! Good luck!

The Amen Solution
Yes, I agree. I opted not to join the site and to simply follow the guidelines. But, don't you think this is a great way to view health and weight loss? It was certainly inspiring to me.
Good for you losing 11 lbs. I've lost quite a bit, too, since I started accounting for my calories and upping the exercise. It's really not rocket science, is it?

The Amen Solution
Has anyone read Daniel Amen's latest book The Amen Solution? I have lost 50 pounds (and regained 10) over the last three years and a m determined to get the last 30 off with the motivation I received from this book. Dr. Amen is a well-respected psychiatrist who has done research on the brain, weight, mood, and health for over twenty-five years. His findings are compelling, especially since he offers the good news that one can actually eat and exercise their way into a younger, healthier brain! It would be great to "buddy-up" with people who are losing weight to improve brain function.
