I'm a 29 year old workaholic and recent transplant to the Pacific Northwest, originally from the East Coast. I started this journey in the beginning of March. My little sister was getting married, and I wanted to look good for her wedding.

Fitness has always been a big part of my life, but eating right had been a challenge. However, once I started to become aware of what I'd been using to fuel my body, the extra weight I'd put on over the years started to melt away. I thought it would be a lot harder to lose weight, but it has actually been a fun journey.

My sister's wedding has come and gone, and my journey continues to evolve. Now that I've lost over 12% of my old body, my strength gains have started to change as well. I've moved past my old fitness plateaus and I'm pushing my body in new ways. Who knows how much my body is capable of? My next challenge is finishing a 10K in October. Then who knows?

I'm inspired by the connection I feel with my body. We're suddenly working together instead of in opposition. It is a peaceful existence I'm not quite used to, but I'm certainly enjoying the ride.

I've done Gilad's workouts before. Sometimes they are On Demand if you have Comcast...I believe they are under the Discovery Health section. Gilad is mostly strength training with some very light cardio mixed in. Most of the moves only require your body weight or some light hand weights. They aren't the most fun workout videos I've ever done, but they aren't terrible either. I don't know if I'd pay $1.99 for them though. There are some fun (& free!) workouts on http://www.exercisetv.tv/workout-videos/

Have fun!

Cheat Days??
I don't have a cheat day. For me, my biggest struggle is forgiving myself if I mess up. I'm still accountable for everything I eat and enter all my calories, but rather than obsessing about how many calories I've eaten, I try to say to myself, 'Oh well. That's my cheat day. I get to try again tomorrow.'

Beer & Wine
Why is it so hard to find nutritional info for beer and wine? It seems like it would be pretty easy to add a nutrition label to a beer bottle. In most cases, I can't even find nutritional info on beer companies' websites...even major brands. Does anyone know why the calories in beer are so top secret?

Qnexa anyone??
I'm kind of late to the disussion on this, but I am an investor and Vivus's shares (Vivus makes Qnexa) were up big today on a better than expected report from the FDA. The FDA found the drug only causes birth defects and a “low” level of psychiatric side effects. Sweet! Wink

Here is the article if you're interested... http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2010-07-13/vivus-s-diet-pill-qnexa-faces-fda-scrutiny-on-psychiatric-side-effects.html
