I used to be big into fitness. I was always pretty thin. I liked to run, swim, play tennis, lift weights, bike. Just about anything physical. Over the last 10 years my weight has continually increased. I tried dieting like I have in the past but don't lose it as easily and put it right back on. I gain weight very very easily. I had an eating disorder when I was a teenager. Nothing major just got a little too skinny from eating too little. I have had issues with binge eating over the last few years. I have turned to food for comfort when I feel bored or depressed. I have bipolar disorder and anxiety so turning to food is super easy for me to do and it's become a really bad habit. It's almost instinctual now. I am trying to work through the anxiety I feel when I feel hunger. Not that I don't eat, just that I need to learn True hunger and eat THEN. I'm also trying to work through giving up junk food. I've been juicing vegetables and precooked a bunch of proteins so I have the right food when I need it. I was doing really really well lifting weights. I think this might be the reason my metabolism is so low, because I've lost a ton of muscle mass. I haven't weight trained in years, so I worked up gradually. I was working out 5-6 days a week and then I got bronchitis. Then I got pleurisy. I am healing from that and not being able to work out ticks me off because I was on such a good track. So now I'm focusing on eating super healthy to stay on track. When I feed my body highly nutritious foods, I don't crave as much. Gum helps too. I love my coffee too:) I am hoping to change my habits and I am hoping they stay that way. I tend to think in my mind that I can eat like I did when I was 24. NOPE. Looking forward to making friends on here who relate to my pain, who I can glean support, tips, etc. and who I may support or inspire as well.
