Start Weight
268.0 lb
Lost so far: 68.2 lb

Current Weight
199.8 lb
Performance: losing 1.4 lb a week

Goal Weight
190.0 lb
Still to go: 9.8 lb
The older I got, the bigger I got. I started at 278 and have been working out regularly for a year and have gotten down to about 260. I'm ready to get serious about the calorie intake and have started counting calories for the first time. I plan to run a reduced calorie diet for a few months under the supervision of my doctor to try to take a another big piece of weight off and then keep it off. Altering my relationship with food is going to be much harder than continuing the exercise.
Updated...
Got down to a low of 176!!! I lost over 100lbs. I made lower calorie intake and regular exercise a part of my life. I had some major life changes and got fast and loose with my eating again. No problem, I know what to do, and I'm on my way back down again!

HGC DIET?!?!
If you also believe in homeopathy then I'm afraid I can't take what you suggest seriously.

Fatsecret food diary CSV export tool
hey, thanks for your hard work on this app, running Linux at home but can sneak in on the office Windows box if I need to. Would be nice if Fatsecret incorporated something similar right in the site for food, excercise, weight, etc... that way you wouldn't have to do the work Smile thanks again though!

Diet Soda addiction
I still drink diet sodas but have switched over to cold tea for the most part at home. Tea is a pretty good drink and you can control the amount of splenda/sugar/nutrasweet etc... you put in it. If you want to go sweetner free, you can wean yourself slowly or go unsweetened to start with. I like lemon juice in mine so a little splash gives you some citrus juice as well.

Breaking a Plateau
I have found that my body seems to lose weight in cycles, I will lose a very small amount one week or none, then a larger amount the next even though calories in and out are roughly the same and the the diet and exercise are the same. It was a little unnerving at first but once I saw the pattern a couple of times, I just go with it and let my body do its thing. Stick with your program!

eating too little?
Divided, as is the nature of message boards, too often it seems like the next poster is referencing the previous poster exclusively. I apologize if I sounded defensive but I certainly didn't want anyone to think I was recommending an extremely low caloric intake.
I think we are in agreement about rational methods of weight loss and interestingly from your weight ticker I see we are about in the same category as far as starting weight, goal, and current weight (I weigh a little more but I'm making good progress Smile ) Having a lot of weight to lose (like you mention in your post) my doctor had me restrict my calories quite a bit at first, but then increase them as I get closer to a healthy weight. Sounds just like what you are saying.
And wintersmith, my experience was much the same, I was working out fervently but had stopped losing weight. Yep, calories in equaled calories out. I had to finally take a look at my intake as much as I didn't want to.
I really enjoy this site and want to wish everyone the best achieving their goal!
