My family has a history of weight issues. Both my parents struggled with weight. One of my younger sisters is around 320, my older brother is probably pushing 300.

I joined the Army in 1981, and when I got out of Basic Training I weighed about 168. That was the lowest I've weighed in my adult life. I spent 11 years in the Active Army, and 9 years in the Army National Guard. I struggled with my weight the entire time. By the time I retired in 2001 (3 days before 9/11), I weighed about 180. Since then I've piled on about 70 pounds. I'd just like to get back down to what I weighed when I retired.

My biggest problem, other than loving to eat/cook, is that my job (systems administrator) involves a LOT of sitting around. Also, since I'm the only one who drives in my family (my wife never got her license), when I get home I spend most of my time driving people around on errands. By the time I'm finished, I don't get much 'Me' time.

The dog we currently have gets walked about 6 times a day, and I'm usualy there for about 4 of them. I try and walk him each time to get in SOME exercise, but it's an uphill battle.

I'm hoping being a member of this site will help me trim down before I reach the big five-Oh.

First Plateau, very depressed. :(
Shia is right .. fluctuations during your weight loss are to be expected. Your body is adjusting to the decreased input of calories, and the increased burning of calories. As these adjustments are made, your body changes how much it actually needs to 'stay functioning'. Early on, when your body is used to using a LOT of calories to keep moving, when you cut back you see the weight loss immediately. Every time your body 'changes gears', you see a 'hiccup' where you don't lose weight for a week or two .. or even gain a few pounds. Don't get discouraged .. it's just your body adjusting to the new 'living conditions'. Once everything has settled down, and as long as you haven't diverged from your diet too drastically during this period, you should see the weight start dropping again .. albeit a little more slowly. When this happens, you may need to increase your activity level, or decrease your calorie consumption, but you'll probably already notice that you're not actually as hungry as you were before, because of the adjustment. Just don't give up .. Smile ~Kaleb

Ticker Changes Colors
Hi .. I was confused the first time I saw a color change myself. Your progress line changes color after every 25% of your goal is reached. Congratulations on your color change! I hope to have my bar change soon. Smile

I would like to be able to search for food just within my own Diet Calendar instead of the whole DB. Or have the option to display more items in the Multiple Add section.

Chat would be great too.

I agree with this .. it's a minor annoyance to me when I create a DB entry, and then have to go back and search for it each and every time I use it. I think it would be much more useful to give individuals immediate access to entries they've created, under the assumption that they'd be using them more often than other, similar, DB entries.
