Back from vacation... 2 weeks off and I ate like a pig, so I'm not surprised the scale shows an 8 lb gain. The surprising thing was that I really didn't enjoy eating with reckless abandon like I thought I would. Since I've been on keto for a few months, I assumed eating carbs again would be awesome. I assumed eating at all-you-can-eat buffets again would be amazing. I assumed that having sweets again would be heavenly. I just assumed overall I would just be happier living without the keto diet restrictions and not worrying about what I was eating.

In a word - WRONG. Really wrong.

Largely, I found myself overeating and feeling sluggish throughout the day. I also found that I didn't miss things that I'd given up (potatoes, bread, pasta, ice cream to name a few) as much as I thought I did - eating them again was just "OK". I also found that a mere 3-4 hours after feeling gorged after overeating that I was hungry again, something I really hadn't experienced much if at all on keto.

So, now that I'm home I'm going back to keto... and probably for the first time ever I'm looking forward to a "diet", not because I have a lot of weight to lose (though I do need to kill those 8 lbs, LOL) but because I just want to feel better. Right now I feel bloated and inflamed, but I know that that keto will cure it in no time flat. I'm looking forward to that.
