Whole foods, plant-based nutrition
This post is dedicated to toga1995.
I have read some of your recent (frustrated) posts, and a few of the responses.
Here's a bit of my thinking after mulling those over.
It sounds like you are starving your body and it is fighting back. No responsible nutritionist recommends skipping meals.
And, while one should not be blase about calories, I have found little benefit in tabulating them, and I would not focus on them.
What I have recently learned is that my primary focus needs to be on content, on the kinds of food I am consuming. Yes, portion control also matters. But having said that, I never let myself skip one of the 3 squares, and I don't end any of them without satisfying my hunger. (My objective is SUSTAINABLE change in weight and condition. Dropping 5 lbs. rapidly to fit into my blue suit may be attainable, but those lbs. will return soon after the suit is back in my closet.)
Because you are eating Air Force chow, content choices will be confined to whatever they serve. That certainly adds some challenges.
Here is my closing recommendation: Get your hands on a copy of "The China Study" by Campbell and Campbell. It will provide clear ideas about nutritional choices. (If forced to buy it, it's on amazon for about $10.) I'll be glad to continue this dialog if you find it helpful.
