So...I'm a single mother of a soon to be 3 year old. I work full time, go to school full time and hence it's hard to find workout time and easy to get off track with diet...I used to be a personal trainer and super fit, so I know what to do, it's just a matter of doing it and getting back to where I want to be...My goal is to get to around 140lb but I'm truly more concerned with how I feel so if I don't get there but I'm happy with how I look and feel I won't care about the weight. I plan on getting there and then staying there, because it is sooooo much easier to stay in shape than it is to get back into shape!

Running
Who cares what other people call it...do the best/most you can for as long as you can! If you truly push yourself you're going to notice that your endurance and speed improve drastically in a very short period of time! Don't doubt yourself, just do your best, if you're doing your best, you're doing all you can, and there's nothing above that Smile

LYDIA--i sent this as a message so if you have more questions let me know through that otherwise I might not see your response Sad but just in case anyone else is curious, here it is Smile

Hey! so i just finished 6.85 miles and nike+ is how i know how far/fast i went...it's a one or two piece system depending on the ipod that you're using (works with nano, touch and iphone)...i have a nano *cuz they were the cheapest Smile* so there's a little sensor that fits inside your shoe and sends a signal to the receptor that's hooked to your ipod, it measures your time, distance, speed, calories, best times, farthest runs, average speed, etc....the website is awesome, you can set up goals and do all sorts of stuff...you can get it at most shoe stores or sports stores. anywho, it's pretty sweet!

Running
Ahhh...i used to love running but not so much now...i'm getting back there, it's one of those things you love when you're good at it and you hate when you're not...I have a couple tips that I use:
1. good running shoes make a HUGE difference and it sounds like you're set on that
2. comfortable (and cute) clothes---i don't have a lot of extra tissue up top so sports bras in general work, i don't need anything special, but i am slightly addicted to the champion bras from target cuz they're SOOOOO soft and comfy
3. i run outside and set goals for myself, at first it was "run to the next stop sign then walk to the next one" and so forth, as I get better the goals get longer, last time I rand the whole way home so more than 2 miles, because i set mini goals and when i got to the goal i realized i still had more in me so i pushed my goal further and further until i was home!
4. i have a running partner (my mom's dog half the time, i feel like he needs to run not walk so it motivates me to run more; my son the other half the time---he's the best personal trainer ever "mama, can you run please" and "mama, you need to run faster" lol)

anyway, those are the things that help me, and of course i have a special workout mix, i also use nike+ because it is an amazing way to track progress and distance and set goals, etc...it's only like $30 and has helped me run almost 100 miles in a month

Anyone else with Busy schedules exhausted?
i'm super duper busy too...aren't we all?!? I'm a single mom of a 3 year old, so I know the drill...on my day off (sunday only) i like to pre-make easy meals and things I can throw in a lunch box for myself and my son like tuna in individual containers with one serving, measured bags of turkey breast or chicken breast, pre-steam veggies for the week, etc....if I don't pre-plan meals and pre-pack snacks I will NOT stick to a good diet so for me, that part's CRUCIAL

my "normal" schedule:

6:00 wake up, get ready, pack lunches, get my son ready
7:30-9 class (full time student)
9:30-11:00 run my mom's dog as payment for helping with my son
11:30 get ready for work/day
12:00-1:30 (yes, hair is usually wet/in a ponytail) homework
2:00-11:00 work
11:30 pick up my son and head home
12:00-2:00 or LATER like tonight
only to repeat the next morning...
