I am a 55 year old mom of three beautiful girls. I have been doing hair since I was 18 years old & am married to a great guy who's family has owned a local Italian eatery in our town for 51 years! Needless to say we have a big crazy food loving family!
I have always struggled with my weight, the first time I remember restricting calories was in the 4th grade! It felt like the rest of my family was always thin & overnight I seemed to have thick thighs & a big butt in comparison to the rest of me,(as I am writing this I realize I am not sure I have ever told anyone this before!) I started Weight Watchers the 1st time in 7th grade & lost weight kept it of a while then gained it back!
I now know the women in my family on my Dad's side seemed to be pear shaped & on the same dieting merry-go-round I jumped on & have stayed on pretty much all my life! I have gained & lost the same weight over & over and tried every diet along the way spending thousands of dollars only to gain it back!
For the past few years I just tried to learn to love myself & be healthy but not obsess and I have pretty much been stuck.
Then I went to the Dr. in January for a physical and had a group of slightly elevated numbers that are definitely not going in a great direction! So here I am at it again trying to find a balance between finding the road to health & living life eating the right things & avoiding sugar, white flour, and carbs! I am reading two books by Dr. Jason Fung about Obesity & Diabetes to help motivate me! I am planning to make a year long quest as of February 1st to be more active daily & eat to fuel my body with good & good tasting food that will gradually result in weight loss & new habits.
It is going to be a long journey & I really appreciate the community FS offers as I have not experienced that before! I have been trying on the days I can to do the intermittent fasting on the 16/8 plan about 5 days a week & finally the scale is budging a little! YAY!
