More exercise, more weight?
Normal Fluid shifts can make your weight swing several pounds over a few days. I showed 2.5 pounds weight loss from Tuesday to Wednesday. I know most of that is fluid and it will come back in a few days but not quite as much(hopefully) !

Can't do Atkins
Thanks Jenny. I guess most people here mean well but some of the folks sure like the diet they are on. I don't know all about triglycerides, LDL, and such but I do know I trust my doc. Besides, I wasn't losing weight on Atkins. It is great for those that it works for but it wasn't for me. Having said that, I know the Atkins folks will say I was doing something wrong. It wasn't the diet, it was me. Maybe so.

Can't do Atkins
WOW. Thanks for all of the replies. I should say that I did have my blood work 6 months ago and my cholesterol was 178, don't remember triglycerides, and BP was fine. The only thing I changed was Atkins. I also don't understand why the Atkins group gets so defensive over the diet. As my doc said, it works great for some people but not everyone and that should be OK. He wasn't downing the diet. He told me he has other other patients that have seen just the opposite results form mine - their blood work improved dramatically on the diet, (but this says they were probably in a very bad place to start with). The trick is to find what works for YOU and then stick with it. Atkins doesn't work for me and I was just sharing that fact. I'm sure there are others that are struggling with it as I was. Sometimes, knowing that you are not alone can help.

Can't do Atkins
I am a 55 year old male with about 15 lbs to lose. I have been struggling with Atkins for 4 weeks now. I followed it closely and actually gained over 2 pounds last week. This brought my total weight loss to a grand total of one pound for the month! I have fought constipation and leg cramps from the start. The final straw was my doctor visit today. My cholesterol was over 250 and my blood pressure was high. I have never had problems with either so he asked me what had changed. When I told him I started Atkins three weeks before the blood was drawn, he said "That will do it!". He says some people do well on it, (weight and blood work), and others are just not genetically made to handle the high fat. Guess we know which side I am on! So tomorrow I start Weight Watchers again. I lost 30 pounds on it a few years back and had excellent blood pressure, cholesterol, etc. I gave Atkins a fair shot and it is just not for me. Now what do I do with all my Atkins bars?
