Complacent 30 something who has reached his fattest and laziest and is ready to turn it around. I think that what I like about the Paleo diet is that is is cut and dry, binary, and easily digested into a series of yes and no's. No measuring in exchange for drastic restrictions of staples of my former diet. It is expensive as f#@k, which actually helps me with portion control, as I'm thinking of it from a frugality stand point. I am also appreciating my food as fuel more because I have to prepare it. Now I take the time to savor it. There are so many great savory things that I can eat, that I really haven't missed restricted items. And I'm cooking like crazy.
Hopefully paired with resurrecting my work-out, I can give myself a healthier foundation and treat my bod better so it ages well.

Old one:
28-year old guy living in Jersey City. I am a free-lance Casting Producer for reality TV shows. Ironically, I worked on a Lifetime show called Cook Yourself Thin, where I realized I've packed on maybe 50+ pounds in the past few years.
I just moved from Philly (where my boyfriend still lives and starting a catering company). I used to commute to New York, which meant four hours a day being sedentary on a bus, and fast food the only available lunch, dinner late at night when I got home. I think moving closer and cutting out that commute will help me.
I am in a relationship with a skinny person who eats atrociously horrible delicious food in large quantities with no consequences. I think he's actually getting skinnier. It's frustrating.
Outside of that, I'm an irreverent goof who likes music, reading, swearing, and creative projects in whatever capacity.
I'd like to lose 40-50lbs, and ideally just live healthier. I am also trying to quit smoking. Frankly, I see a lot of older people who have destroyed their bodies and I don't want to do that.

Plus, I'm getting neck fat. I never want to have neck fat.

Abs Diet on the road? HELP!
@Divided and Kitty Pie
Thanks guys... DBZ, i'm hoping i can burn calories at the hotel fitness center and just be careful at restaurants... Kitty, good call on the Subway (they're flippin' everywhere) and especially good call on the canned shakes... i was planning on packing my blender and protein powder because i'm a moron. I can just get the canned stuff when I'm there, and they are good on the go while i'm actually working (on TV sets, they are often fans of pizza cause it's cheap and fast... if i come packin' i can skip it).

side note: god bless the internet... it's made this a hell of a lot easier.

Abs Diet on the road? HELP!
Hey there- i have to travel for work soon, and whenever that happens, my food choices are limited and AWFUL!

I am on the Abs Diet, which is great if you can make most of your own meals, but on the road in Hotels and eating at restaurants, I am way worried.

I need some tips or encouragement because I am really worried. Any Abs Dieters ever take it on the road?

the one good thing is hotels usually have fitness centers, which beats the hell out of my sad home workout.

Let's do it to it, Pilgrims!
so tomorrow is the day we celebrate thanksgiving here in the states. i've said it before, i am 28, so by that right i've eaten pretty much the same meal every year since i could chew. this year i think i can take it easy with a few pieces of white meat, and whatever 'least butter covered veggie" is on the table (which, at my house might only consist of the decorative gourd in the store-bought centerpiece).

i am really close with my family, so i'm going to change the focus of this holiday from "let's see how stretchy my stomach is" to "let's find out how Nana's trip to the UK was" or "SHE'S pregnant? On purpose?" or "Timmy, put that down or you're going to burn curtains".

nice long walk with the (non-smoking) cousins in the morning and light healthy nibbles during the day, and a controlled, slow-chewing meal focused more on conversation than storing up for the winter.

i know it's a holiday and i should allow myself to let loose, but this is a holiday for which i get real loose, so for me, I need to change my focus.

Happy Thanksgiving everybody! Enjoy your friends and family, football games, Pilgrim/Indian pageant, bitter family rivalry, what-have you!

Organic 100% Real Peanut "Peanut Butter"
I think that's all you really need to worry about. Abs Diet recommends 'natural style' peanuts, and the only two ingredients are peanuts and salt, so the peanut lady's stuff is probably ideal. Do you not like it?

I know Skippy and Jiff make "natural" peanut butter but I've found not everywhere carries them. Are those available to you?

this might be a little extreme, but you can order Jif Natural and Organic online:

portion control! ack!
that's smart- i've seen online special "portion" cups and dishes, but I think that's unnecessary.
as for the suggestions to eat six meals vs 3, it just so happens that that is what the diet i'm on calls for (Abs Diet) and it totally works. Yesterday was day one, and i had to MAKE myself have the sixth. What's great is my portions during the day were either on point or slghtly smaller and I was still satisfied. timing is everything, i guess.
