I am a wife and mother at an older age. I desire to become healthy as I just recently had symptoms of heart attack and now have diabetes and other health issues.
I live in Rwanda Africa and the diet is a lot of carbs so I really am working around that.
I will be 62, soon and I have been overweight since my twenties. I cannot blame pregnancy since my children are adopted. Every year I just gained ten pounds and kept it, then another. The highest I have weighed was 297.
I started getting serious in November of 2018. After having almost all the signs of a heart attack.
My blood pressure is high but I am now on medicine for that and angina for my heart. I was
tested for type 2 diabetes. The doctor is giving me until the end of June to see if there is enough improvement to not be put on meds.

I have rheumatoid arthritis which makes moving difficult. Now I am trying to, do anything to bring movement.

I was just diagnosed the same. I have been trying to eat 6 smaller meals and use whole wheat bread or pasta as well as Brown rice.One of the tips I read is to eat the fast turning carbs with protein or fat since it takes longer for the protein and fat to turn to sugar.

what is your goal weight, 5'3 and 5'4 ladies?
I am 62 and almost 5'4 and I am aiming for 140. Of course it has been so long since I as any where near that. It sounds like you have a realistic goal.
