11 April 2013

Very happy with my unofficial weigh-ins. For the last 3 days, I've been under 170. Very, very happy with that. Now if I don't totally screw it up between now and Monday, everything should be great. But I've been known to screw it up. Especially with the added stress of my mother in-law visiting this weekend. I will survive!!!

Also, the last few days I haven't been exercising because I was so freakin' sore from soccer last Friday. It was like all my leg muscles just decided to shrink up about 1/2 a foot. And my ankle was bothering me, so I didn't want to run on it.

I've bought some kinesio tape and I'm going to try taping up my ankle. I've noticed that my ankle is very weak. When it hurts, it's because right before it does this little wobble thingy -- and then the pain. So, wrapping up my ankle and doing strengthening exercises should be the trick. I'm running a 5K on April 20 and really need to get back to running. I want to beat that 30 minutes!!! 29:59 is my goal.

Well, I've still got a ton of housekeeping before the MIL gets here, so here I go to clean out the fridge and mop and finish cleaning up the guest bathroom (that my sons said they cleaned up, but didn't go a MIL cleaning job).

Have a great weekend everyone! Happy Trails!!

Well, I did lose a little bit of weight, but I had hoped for a bigger loss. However, any loss is worth celebrating. So, Yeah Me!

So, why do I think my weight loss wasn't very big even though my tracking looks phenomenal?

1) I didn't weigh and measure everything I ate. There was a lot of estimation going on. I need to stop that. Buy a new battery for your scale already!!! No more excuses.

2) I did pick and nibble while cooking dinner and I didn't account for that. I used to chew gum while cooking dinner so that I wasn't tempted to pick. I need to start doing that again.

3) My muscles are REALLY sore from soccer and my marathon 2.5 hour yoga session on Saturday. I know that sore muscles hold a lot of water due to inflammation.

4) My body always has a hard time letting go when I get to the 170 range. I don't know what it is, but every time I lose weight, I plateau/lose weight at a glacial pace at 170.

But here's the good news: I've lost 1 whole percentage point off of my body fat according to my analyzer. And my jeans are fitting better. No more muffin top. :-) I know that the fat is coming off and that's what counts.

I'm going to work hard on correcting the mistakes that I made this week so that next week can be a better one. But I would be really happy with another 0.4 pound loss again next week. Anything in the downward direction is OK by me.

Edit:

I know that I wrote earlier this morning but I forgot to add a very good thing that happened this weekend, and really wanted to record this success.

Well, I changed my weigh-in day to Monday to challenge(force) me to track on the weekends. Yesterday, I broke down and ate a very "pricey" meal for lunch of steak and potatoes left over from the previous night. Then my husband and I went to the movies and I ate a whole bag of GoRaw Spirulina Chips (instead of one serving). So, dinner comes around and I really only have about 200 cals to stay within my cal target for the day. I almost said, "%$#! it" and ate when I had planned for dinner anyway.

But I knew my weigh-in was in the morning and I really wanted to have a good morning. So, I altered the dinner plans, which was supposed to be Shrimp Teriyaki with rice. Instead, I had a really awesome salad with fresh herbs, shrimp, balsamic vinegar, and a little bit of truffle oil. It was SO good and I only went over a few calories for the day.

Woohoo! It's only Saturday and I've already beaten my goal of 500 minutes of exercise. I've done 558 mins! Thanks to a soccer game last night where no subs showed up and a 90 minute Yin yoga class this morning.

Now, next week, I won't have the advantage of the aforementioned 180 minutes because I can't go to soccer and I'm pretty sure that with my MIL in town, there's no way my husband will allow me to abandon him with his mother for a double yoga session. 1 hour - maybe. 2.5 hours - absolutely not. <Insert eye roll here.>

MMMMM...magnesium citrate oral solution tastes like lemon smarties. Yes, I'm having a going problem. Been about 4 days and my stomach is starting to hurt. Even though I eat a ton of fruits and veggies (I have celiac disease, so please don't suggest that I try to get in more grains), I think that I'm not getting enough fat in my diet. I'm going to go back to taking a coconut oil supplement every evening. That always helps stuff slide right through.

So far, my tracking is bang-on for the month of April. I'm hoping to start seeing results soon. Weekends are the bane of my tracking existence, and I think that having a Monday weigh-in is helping keep me on track.

Got a soccer game tonight. I'm very excited and very nervous at the same time. I've been out of the game for over 6 months letting my Achilles heal. I'm hoping that it behaves and doesn't act up. I'd really like to play the whole 90 minutes tonight (for a total of 900 calories). I play mid, so I know that isn't an exaggeration. And I do enjoy soccer day because I pretty much get to eat whatever I want, because I'm burning all of these calories.

And the weekend is coming up. This is the hard part. I've changed my official weekly weigh-in day to Monday so that I HAVE to be good on the weekends. We'll see how that goes. I'm moderating a challenge to track everything for the month of April and since there hasn't been a weekend yet, it's been pretty great so far. Moderating the challenge has really motivated me to stay the course. I hate being one of those "do as I say, not as I do" people. I'm pretty hard on the challenge members. But I didn't know how much freakin' work it would be.

I came up with the idea when last year, I did a similar challenge run by someone else. And it really kept me on track because I didn't want to get kicked off. I know that if I track, I lose. I have total respect and props for the dude who ran that one. This is a shittone of work.
