17 April 2013

Well, it has been a rocky two days. I found out on Tuesday that my friend and naturopath was killed in an avalanche over the weekend. It has really thrown me for a loop. She was one of the kindest and beautiful souls I've ever met. Truly a healer.

I also took my MIL back to the airport yesterday. That was bittersweet. 5 days was maybe too long. Towards the end, we all started getting on each other's nerves. I worked from home yesterday afternoon and just loved the quiet of my house. No TV, just two sweet puppies trying to snuggle on top of my laptop. I really needed that.

Tomorrow is my 43rd birthday!!! I'm going to have another major chill out day. I'm going to the spa for pampering and lunch. Going to bring a great book to relax with. No one is allowed to go with me, it's just going to be me all by myself. And then Friday, Phil and I are going to go to Seattle to ride the Great Wheel. I've been wanting to do that since the durn thing opened, but now I get the chance. Totally stoked.

This week (thus far) is going good with regards to weight loss. Yesterday I took my first run since my soccer game (ankle started hurting again)and it was a good run. I used kinesio tape to tape up my Achilles. I think I'm going to also tape up for fasciitis as the bottom of my foot was a bit tender afterwards. The tape helped stabilize my ankle. I did a 3.5 mile loop around a park. I think that if I'm going to do longer runs, there's another loop I can easily add on that will take it another 2 miles. So, total loop would be about 5.5 miles. I'm joining another challenge to run a 10K.

And the sad thing is that I don't think I can play soccer until my ankle is fully healed. I thought it was, but with all that starting and stopping and twisting, I'm just not going to be able to play this season. Plus, I want to focus on running right now, which I love dearly. And running is pretty much free...

Retrospective on the week

I'm happy that I lost weight this week. It was very stressful. I gotta say that I'm happy that I changed my weigh-in day to Monday. I knew that it would be challenging mentally, but I know that it is the ONLY reason I'm staying on track during the weekends. Plus, I really, really, really want to lose this weight (again!).

For Week 2 of my April tracking challenge - thinks are going A-OK. And that's showing on the scale this week. I'm much more honest with myself, which is what really counts.

Today I start a 30-day yoga challenge at my yoga studio. 30 classes in 30 days. I'm going to do my best to NOT miss any days, but if I do miss I can always do a double-class. I love doing doubles on Saturdays. Actually, my secret goal is to do more than 30 classes in 30 days. And my personal exercise goal is to be able to do Extended Side Crow pose. Since I broke my little finger a couple of months ago, I've been horrible at crow pose, but I'm not only going to re-learn it, I'm going to exceed where I was before I injured my finger. My son, Noah, also signed up for the 30-day challenge. I'm going to do my best to force him to do it. Go Noah!

And my final goal for these 30 days is to get to 165 pounds by May 15. It's only 3.4 pounds, but this weight seems to be coming off slower than last time (another great reason to not put the weight on in the first/second/third place), so I think that's an attainable goal.

14 April 2013

It's 6:30 pm and I survived a very rough weekend. It was my son's 21st birthday and with all the relatives visiting and all the food cooked and purchased, I have to say that I did surprisingly well. I was able to track all of my food - even if I couldn't find the time to exercise. That was a HUGE win and I'm really proud of myself.

Note: I didn't have the time to computer-track my food yesterday, but I wrote everything down on paper until I had time to input my food on the computer. I could've sworn that I'd be WAY over my calories yesterday, but I was pleasantly surprised to find out that I only went a wee bit over.

I'm only going to drink water for the rest of the day and chill out - read my book, etc. If I eat anything, it will be a piece of fruit, but nothing more. I have to say that having a Monday weigh-in is a great incentive for having better weekends. :-)

Well, I have to go prep for my week - to make sure it's just as successful as this last week.
