Just a quick question what do you consider low in calories. To some people that's under 250 cals some under 500.

Diabetic type two looking to reduce carbs and wieght
My husband is Type 2 Diabetic he used to eat 4 weetbix with skim milk for breakfast and was always starving by 10am and heading for the chocolate. Did some googling and spoke to the Chemist he now has the Isowhey Diabetic formula Ivory Coast Chocolate shake with 100ml water and 100ml skim milk. No he often gets to 1.00pm and goes "should have some lunch". He also keeps a sachet of it in his draw at work just in case he gets the afternoon munchies. Twice a week instead of the shake he has 2 fried eggs a little cheese on Tip Top 9 grain bread few more calories but same result. Having a decent breakfast is the key to any diet and its so easy to keep the carbs down. His favourite dinner now is Grilled Steak (don't cut the fat off after its cooked or it will be dry) with mushroom and sour cream sauce with asparagus on the side, very few carbs but yum. He reckons if this what he has to eat to kick is diabetes he may just pull this off. Low fat diets just don't make sense when you are diabetic because most lower in fat products up the sugar (except milk and cheese). Moderate Carbs 50 - 100g a day is working really well his weight is down his sugars are down and I can still fit in most of the things he likes. Occasionally I will throw in a freddo frog.

It depend what you like even a Roast Dinner can be low in calories if done right. Look at all your favourite foods and see what changes you could make. eg beef strog is a big favourite in my house. instead of putting it on rice or pasta we use shreaded cabbage fill a microwave bowl couple of teaspoons on butter and some cracked pepper cook for 5 mins.
