I am almost 73 (ye gads) have COPD and use oxygen but I am doing pulmonary rehab trying to get off it again. I have done it once before.

I am up to a mile on the treadmill in 30 minutes. I love walking to Dancin' Queen, from Mamma Mia. At home I ride a stationary bike and walk the dogs for exercise. Last year I could not get into my favorite clothes. Now I can wear some of them, but not all.

My writing life is being held hostage by the results of bad choices -- one of them being smoking.

Being able to breathe has to be my #1 priority.

I'm like a voice in the wilderness, crying out to young people -- I consider anyone under 70 young. Stop letting fear interfere with your becoming all you were meant to be.

As for food, fear of being hungry, fear of feeling your feelings, fear of not being deadened to pain by food, fear of revealing who you truly are underneath the layers of fat, fear of finding out you aren't as great as you thought you were, fear of realizing it wasn't the weight holding you back -- it was your own weakness, fear of finding out just how great you are and just how badly you have blown it . . . then reaching down deeper than you ever thought possible to overcome all these fears and finally succeed at the one thing that has defined your whole life . . . only you know what that is.

I have tried looking for info, but I am restricted because of where I live. This restriction doesn't happen often and it annoys me when it does, but I cannot read or see what the diet is about....

Gee, I'm sorry. Basically, it is no wheat, no dairy, no diet drinks, no artificial sweeteners except Stevia. You make a broth (about a gallon) out of veggies (I used whatever I had), to drink between meals.

Breakfast is a high protein shake of your choosing (after starting with lemon water). The idea is to get a lot of protein at each meal (I try for a minimum of 20 grams but usually have more). All the usual free veggies of course, with snacks limited to 100 calories of nuts, almond butter, or hummus. Not sure that is exactly right, but that is what I am dong.

You eat fish, chicken eggs ( I ate a beef hot dog yesterday with kraut). No processed foods, of course, and not even deli meats, which I think is silly not to be able to eat smoked turkey. I had moose meat a couple of meals, but it counts like chicken.

It isn't that different from any other diet except I am finding it tough to not be able to eat goat cheese. (Is goat cheese dairy?)

Yesterday I did two cheats, leading up to my blowing it last night with the trail mix. First I had diet lemon tea with an artificial sweetener (Lipton) and of course the beef hotdog was a cheat.

The only starch allowed is 1/2 cup quinoa (and something about chick peas, which I love).

All the protein is helping me not to be hungry, but of course, protein does not address emotional eating, which the trail mix was (domestic disharmony).

Today I will try to be sure to eat enough, and drink the broth when I feel hungry. Hope this sort of helps explain the concept, which boils down to low calories, low carb, low fat, high fiber.

I hope others will add to this to help you since you can't get it online.

Good luck.

Been working at the Total 10 for several days now. I put a couple recipes on this site that are waiting for approval. Also having trouble with bedtime hunger. I'm trying a cup of broth at 8:30 pm tonight to see if that helps. Love the Chili-lime Chickpeas. 1/2 cup is really filling as a snack.

I just confessed in my journal that I blew it last night. Forgot about the broth. Today is a new day. Forward!

I'm thinking about starting this Monday. How was the first day?

A little complicated but no hunger. The broth helps. I made mine out of whatever I had: zucchini, mushrooms, peppers. etc. Slight headache from only one cup of coffee. I usually have two, and I already gave up diet sodas. My shake is Skinny Gut Ultimate shake, high fiber, probiotics and protein.

If you can see my Journal and foods you can get the whole picture.

Sure howzat4u, it is Dr. Oz's latest offering in the way of diets. It is on his website DrOz.com. You can check it out and see if you want to try it. After two days, I believe it is doable. It remains to be seenwhether I lose any weight on it.
