I have a job career where I spend long hours in meetings and sitting in front of the computer. Over the years I gained far too much weight and developed a lot of painful arthritis in my knees, hips, back and shoulders.

Grrrrr! I'm not gonna spend the rest of my life hunched over and hobbling around like chimpanzee. Time to get things back on track!

I'm gonna get my BMI back to healthy 22 and get my muscles back in shape to support my joints properly.

I love to cook. Ive challenged myself to re-invent all my favorite recipes to healthier and lower calorie versions. So far Ive Ive been pretty successful, some taste even better than original high calorie version.

I'm not on any special diet plan. I just try to eat a balanced diet, cut out the junk food. Watch my calories so I'm burning more than I'm taking in and trying to get some moderate exercise in.

Besides cooking, I love anime, manga, science fiction, origami, costume design, playing video games on PC, and teasing my cat!

What was the 'lightbulb moment' that made you realize you needed to lose weight?
On my last birthday I got up with my back and knees killing me and I felt lousy and bloated. I stepped on the bathroom scale .. its was the heaviest I ever weighed in my life. Right there I decided that this was just ridiculous. I'm too young to be hobbling around hunched over like a 100 year old chimpanzee and there is no reason why I should let myself be this unhealthy and miserable.

I went into the kitchen with a 55 gal trash bag a threw all junk food out. Then I went into garage and dusted off my old cross training equipment and started eating right ad exercising again.

What do you snack on...?
I like vegetable juice with a dash of tabasco sauce for extra kick.
Beef jerky is tasty and all chewing you have to do makes it last too.
If I'm craving something sweet and crunchy, I like to eat a little Kashi Go Lean cereal dry.

Salmon Dinner
I like salmon cooked with white wine, cracked black pepper and capers.
Another good one is cooked with lemon slices and fresh dill.

Bon Appetit!

Powdered Soy Protein
I like Trader Joe's soy protein powder.
Its unflavored and unsweetened, generally cheaper than most protein powders.
Its has bland grain-like flavor and will get pretty thick when mixed with liquids. I like to use it to thicken smoothies, shakes, sauces and gravy I also like to add some when I'm baking or to my hot cereals.
