Well, I'm a 33 year-old father of two beautiful daughters (3 and 5), I'm currently 5'10" (I don't see this one changing) and 225 lbs (this better change!). I am a Sr. Systems Engineer for one of the nation's top 5 broadcasting companies so I spend most of my days (and nights too) sitting in front of a computer working remotely on servers.

My weight story is that I graduated high school in '95 weighing a healthy average 150 lbs. In my first year of college I decided go for the freshman 50 instead of the 15. My twist however, was I spent both semesters in a strength training class so I hit 205 and dropped down to the mid-teens in body-fat percentage. Leaving college meant leaving the gym for me and I slowly watched my muscles atrophy, but never adjusted my eating habits and quickly hit 225 around the time of my wedding in '02, and then 235 when my first daughter was born in '05. In January '06, my office sponsored a weight challenge and in 3 months I went from 230.4 to 207.4 but the three month roller coaster was not enough to change my habits. 5 years and my second daughter later I'm back up to 235.

What has changed for me now is two things (other than my daughters):

1.) I was flipping through some pictures on facebook of me and saw one of me standing next to my youngest who was in a infant bikini with her baby Buddha belly sticking out, the comment on the photo was "y'all look like twins!"

2.) Another company challenge (I took second with 28 lbs lost or 12%)

It is time to Carpe some Diems and get rid of this gut! My goal is an aggressive (for me) 180, or 20% in 10 months. My plan is simple calorie counting and exercise. I don't want to get hooked on a plan that costs me to continue, or that I cannot easily repeat if I need to once I'm in maintenance period.

Please join me in my battle, I could use all the support I can get, and I'll be sure to throw some your way too!

- David

this exercise diary is the WORST
FYI you can adjust the defaults for exercise if you typically sleep a set time other than 8 hours, have a set driving time, etc. Just do it from the full site, in the exercise diary on the right you will see the set default values option. It is done per day, so if your weekend routine is different, or you typically exercise certain days, you can account for that.

tip
The tip is sound, the "Who knew?" might be seen as harsh, but at the same point, ignoring the obvious statement is a huge part of why we are here.

Kind of an embarrassing topic but...
Thanks again everyone!

@Sooki: 4yrs old and I just noticed it had recently expired... stopped it anyways

@Everyone: So I went with Chobani instead of Activa, added flax to my diet twice so far, and went with a friends suggestion on one Tbsp of olive oil twice a day. All this has yielded some results. I'll keep up the flax, easy enough to add, as well as the active culture yogurt, and do one more day of the olive oil. Hopefully things will be more "regular" from there on out.

Note on olive oil - Makes the world smell like a Macaroni Grill... LOL!

Kind of an embarrassing topic but...
Thanks for all of the suggestions! I like the Activa idea, maybe I'll sprinkle some flax seed on it for a boost. I have been eating three prunes every morning for two weeks, drinking about 100+ fl oz of water daily, excerising daily, and drinking coffee. I had recently stooped to using some leftover colace from my wife's last pregnancy. Glad I'm not alone in this and thanks again!
