74y/o female. Been overweight most of my adult life, max 260 pounds, 5ft7in. Lost to 184, removal of hanging flesh (14pounds). Somewhat shocked to get on the scale & still 184! Since April 2010, I have lost to 154, but regained to 190 & now back to 185.

It has been hard - thyroid problem - enough to make losing weight hards. Started on meds & will retest as needed. I hope with the thyroid under control, I can see gains in my weight loss. Want to get to 155 or less!

I' a retired RN, Air Force veteran (worked in the Block House during Vietnam in intelligence), wrote a humor column for 8 yrs (Disabled Dealer Magazine not in publication now), & am the N'tl Chaplain & Cantor for Jewish War Veterans of the USA.

Graduated from Liberty HS, Bethlehem, PA; got my LPN at Eastern Pa School of Nursing, Easton, PA, received my Assoc. degree in Science in 85, & in Science in Nursing in 86 at Trinity Valley Comm. College, Athens, TX; and took pre-med at University of Texas Arlington, but decided to stay in nursing. I worked in nursing from 65 until I retired in 95; mostly in ER's. Also L&D on-call - delivered 30 babies when the doc couldn't get there.

I currently am active in the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, Vietnam Veterans of America, and Jewish War Veterans. In the latter I served on the National Executive Committee, started and served as temporary Chair of Women in the Military. I am on the Vietnam Veterans Committee, Rules and Regulations Committee, and the Standing Committee (where I help to resolve any problems between the veteran side and the auxiliary side of the organization, and as stated previously, am the National Chaplain and Cantor and lead service on our sabbath (Shabbat).

I am the mother of twin girls (now adults) and just became a great-grandmother in October of 2018. I enjoy going to the gym, walking and lifting weights.

GYM?!?!?!?!?!?!
Went to the gym Sunday and met with a personal trainer..I had signed up to learn which machines and exercises would be most beneficial. She put me through a grueling pace of exercise (very few on a machine...most using my own weight as resistance). To say I broke a sweat would be an understatement! I was drenched after an hour. She, at the end, said the majority of her 35 year old clients would not be able to do what I just did...and I am 70! When I get back from D.C. I am going to sign her up as my trainer. I loved her outlook and encouraging demeanor.

container farming
I built a 4x4 ft. container garden, plus used 18 gal. plastic tubs, some large pots, etc., and planted a garden in the front yard of my complex. Grew tomatoes, squash, peppers, stevia and herbs. Had lots of compliments on the colorful display of both veggies and containers; plus the harvest was fantastic...what I couldn't use immediately, I froze. Still using some of it today! Moved last month and the guy before me left his two large container gardens and I'm good to go for this coming spring! I love it! Fresh food, no pesticides, and it looks good!Very Happy
